The full name of Whitecliffs Foreshore Reserve is the ‘Whitecliffs to Camerons Bight Foreshore Reserve’; it is approximately six kilometres long and is located near the southern tip of the Mornington Peninsula. The reserve is Crown Land and is overseen by the Whitecliffs to Camerons Bight Foreshore Reserve Committee of Management on behalf of the Minister for the Department of Environment, Land, W
ater, and Planning (DELWP). The committee is guided by it’s Coastal Marine Management Plan (CMMP) that will provide strategic direction for the next 5 years enabling a planned approach to ongoing maintenance and upgrades to the foreshore reserve. We employ a foreshore team to manage the day-to-day operations and implement actions within the CMMP. The management of this foreshore reserve is completely independent of Mornington Peninsula Shire Council and Parks Victoria, with no rates or government funding supporting our activities; the majority of our revenue is generated by the operation of foreshore camping. We operate as a not-for-profit and as such, all revenue generated is used for the enhancement of the Foreshore Reserve through various environmental, infrastructure, and educational programs. The Committee is comprised of members of the community with skillsets relevant to foreshore management and meets once a month.
