Anglesea SLSC

Anglesea SLSC Anglesea Surf Life Saving Club is located on the Great Ocean Road in beautiful Anglesea.
(1)

We patrol the beautiful beaches including Anglesea Main Beach & Point Roadknight. Anglesea SLSC is always keen to have new members and has something for everyone! The Anglesea SLSC was formed in 1952 and currently has over 2,000 members. In the 2015-2016 season Anglesea undertook over 5600 hours of patrol, performed several major rescues and over 1100 preventative actions. We are very proud of our

commitment to providing an outstanding lifesaving service.

The ASLSC clubhouse overlooks the main Anglesea beach and has one of the most spectacular views along the Great Ocean Road & Surf Coast. Our facilities include the Ray Marsh Room from which Love House operates the restaurant and Jimpy’s bar over the summer months and throughout the year offering a range of light meals and beverages so we welcome you to come and enjoy the fabulous views and hospitality (non-members welcome).

The John Worrell room is an ideal venue for weddings, receptions, corporate conferences, conventions and other functions or events

Yesterday, we held our 75th Annual General Meeting, and as a terrific highlight, we honoured two new ASLSC Life Members, Tom Cullen and Ian McGain.

Tom (pictured first), since joining the club over 25 years ago has made a remarkable impact on ASLSC and the broader lifesaving community. Tom has held countless roles instilling his leadership within the club, most notably being his tenure as President, and since 2014 his role as Rock to Ramp Race Director. Tom was instrumental in the most recent renovation and extension of our clubhouse, a project that is undeniably a key milestone in our club history. Tom has been a key pillar in the development of our club across so many areas, specifically the member training area.

Ian (pictured second), since joining in 1962 has had a long and distinguished career as a club member. He too has had a remarkable impact on our club, specifically in the sport of Surfboat rowing. Ian was a rower in of one of the clubs most successful rowing crews in the 60s/70s, and continued to establish the sport and its success, sweeping many crews through his career. His role in reinstating the involvement of Anglesea SLSC in Master’s competition in the early 2000s is a legacy that still carries on today. Ian’s most recent role as Director of Surf Sports from 2021-2023 has helped shape our incredibly successful competition teams and their coaching team.

We’d like to congratulate both Tom and Ian for their past and ongoing incredible contributions to our surf club!

Girls Kicking Goals 💕

Bella and Charmaine, two of our already incredible club leaders, have today graduated from the Ready to Lead female leadership program facilitated by LSV.
Ready to Lead is a female leadership program that engages not only members of Lifesaving Victoria, but from emergency services all across Victoria. The girls have spent the past 12 weeks learning incredible leadership and teamwork skills and so much more. We’re so excited to see how their R2L experience shapes their future as ASLSC Leaders.

Thank you to the AMAZING Women in Lifesaving Team who put this absolutely incredible program together… we couldn’t be prouder to support our Anglesea girls through this program🩷🩷

National Volunteer Week – We Are All Lifesavers 💛

This week we celebrate the incredible volunteers who make Anglesea SLSC what it is.

At our club, being a lifesaver isn’t just about the red and yellow flags, it’s every role, every shift, every contribution behind the scenes. From patrols and Nippers to events, training and governance and of course, the all important BBQ, it all matters.

Volunteering looks different for everyone, and that’s our strength. Families volunteering together, members stepping up in new ways, and a shared commitment to keeping our beaches safe.

If you’ve been thinking about getting involved, this is your year. We’re always looking for members to support roles like those in our fundraising events like Rock 2 Ramp and beyond. Send us a message if you’d like to know more about how you can help.

To every volunteer—thank you. You are the heart of Anglesea SLSC, and together, we are all lifesavers. 🙌.

An awesome couple of days over the weekend for the Anglesea SLSC IRB team. Well done to our U23 and Open athletes who slogged it out in tough conditions but came away with some very promising results. Thanks to the volunteers that came down to help the Club host the carnival over both days. Thanks also to the team’s sponsors and supporters, all of whom make it possible for our crews to compete.
