A massive THANK YOU to our awesome members who helped out at the Shoot a Duck stall at the Bunnings Alice Springs Family Fun Night for Father’s Day! 👨‍👧‍👦🎉
The kids had an absolute blast hosing down those brave little ducks as they made their way through the course. Plenty of laughs, plenty of water and a few very soggy ducks! 😂💦🦆
Thanks to everyone who came along, had a go and helped make it such a fun night for the community.
And of course, a huge shout-out to our members who volunteered their time to make it happen. You legends! ❤️🚒

Tonight’s training took a slightly different turn, with Wyatt stepping up as our quiz show host for the ASVBB Challenge Quiz! 🎤😂
There were laughs, a little competitive spirit, and plenty of questionable confidence as our members battled it out for the coveted podium! 🏆

WE ARE SO INCREDIBLY PROUD OF OUR CAPTAIN JEN! ❤️‍🔥
Jen has been awarded Bush Champion at the 2026 Bush Summit, and honestly, we couldn't think of anyone more deserving.
The Weekly Times recently put the spotlight on Jen's incredible life of service, and when you see everything she has packed into those years, it’s pretty bloody extraordinary.
👮‍♀️ 29 years serving the Northern Territory community through NT Police
🔥 First female Captain of the Alice Springs Volunteer Bushfire Brigade
❤️ Foster mum to 127 children
🤝 A decade-long White Ribbon Ambassador
🖤 Dedicated Legacy volunteer caring for widows
🚒 And, of course, leading our brigade and constantly advocating for our volunteers and our community.
But that's Jen. She doesn't do things by halves. Whether she's wearing the police uniform, the Captain's uniform or just being Jen, helping people is at the heart of everything she does.
As Jen herself says, “We all have the capacity to help someone else”. And she certainly lives those words every single day.

🔥 Tonight’s training looked a little different! 🔥
Tonight wasn’t about skills, drills or getting covered in dirt… it was about coming together! 🍻🔥
We joined forces with our mates at NTFRS Volunteer Brigade Alice Springs Inc. for a good old-fashioned social night, with Andrew Thomas from Bushfires NT cooking up an absolute storm on the BBQ for everyone. 🌭🥩
Plenty of good food, plenty of laughs, plenty of yarns and a chance to catch up with the people we’ll be working alongside when things get busy.
With fire season fast approaching, nights like this are a really good reminder that strong crews are built both on the fireground and around the BBQ! 🔥👨‍🚒
Thanks to everyone who came along and made it an amazing night!

🔥🎸 BLACK WREATH / BLACKEN OPEN AIR FESTIVAL 🎸🔥
We’re sharing this Channel 7 post because, while heavy metal might not be everyone’s cup of tea, the Alice Springs Volunteer Bushfire Brigade was proud to provide support at the Blacken Open Air Festival out at Ross River.
And let’s be honest… our Captain Jen is absolutely in her element when it comes to this music scene! 🤘🔥
Our Deputy Captain Emma, however, had already started mentally preparing for her debut as lead singer at next year’s Blacken Festival. 🎤😂 Sadly, it looks like her potential rockstar career may be over before it’s even had a chance to begin!
Jokes aside, Blacken is part of the incredible patchwork that makes up our Central Australian community. ❤️
So please take a moment to support a local event, support local artists and help support another little community within our amazing little community.

🔥🏆 BUSH CHAMPION NOMINEE! 🏆🔥
Well… now it’s official! Our very own Captain Jen Hamilton has been named as a nominee for the Bush Champion Awards! ❤️🚒
And after seeing the incredible list of achievements behind this nomination, we couldn’t be prouder.
A 29-year veteran of the NT Police Force, foster mum to an incredible 127 children, the first female Captain of the Alice Springs Volunteer Bushfire Brigade, a decade-long White Ribbon ambassador, carer for Legacy widows and someone who is always willing to step up and help her community.
And that’s just the stuff that makes it onto paper! 😂
For us, Jen is the person who keeps showing up, keeps pushing for our brigade, supports our members and gives so much of herself to the Alice Springs community.
This nomination is incredibly well deserved and a wonderful recognition of everything Jen has contributed over the years. ❤️
From all of us at ASVBB, congratulations Captain Jen! We are bloody proud of you! 👏🔥

🔥 Last Night’s Training: Extinguisher 101! 🧯🔥
Last night Leah had our members getting up close and personal with one of the most important bits of kit around the place: fire extinguishers! 🧯
The crew learnt about the different types of extinguishers, what they’re designed to put out and, most importantly, why using the wrong extinguisher on the wrong type of fire can be a spectacularly bad idea! 😬🔥
Because when it comes to fire, it’s not simply a case of “grab the red bottle and hope for the best.” 😂
A great practical refresher for the team, because knowing what’s burning and what extinguisher to use can make all the difference.
Big thanks to Leah for running the session and keeping us all sharp! 👩‍🚒🧯
