The Murrindindi Mobile Health Van has definitely been putting in some miles lately.

In February we're seeing the van travelling to Highlands, Fawcett, Yarck, Terip Terip, Yea, Alexandra, and more! That's 17x days on the road this month.

And it's all thanks to Yea & District Memorial Hospital, Alexandra District Health, CGP Mansfield, and NP Onthe Run Healthcare who have been delivering a huge range of health outreach services.

The Alexandra Pro Rodeo (or should we say Alexandra Bushfire Relief Rodeo) is back, and we can’t wait.

Running big events can be complex at the best of times, and rescheduling it amongst everything else that’s happened this year adds a whole other layer. But we’ve landed on a fantastic program, and we can’t wait to deliver it for (and with) the community.

More music, more rodeo, more stages, more action around the arena… it’ll be fantastic.

And the piece that really excites us is that we’ll be running the entire event as a fundraiser to support out bushfire impacted communities.

If you’re keen to know how you can help support this event, just let us know.

The Alexandra Hay Depot has now closed. Any future donations of hay will be sent directly to farm.

We’d really like to recognise the team at the Alexandra Hay Depot. Over the past month, they’ve helped coordinate the distribution of around 10,000 bales of hay to fire-affected farmers right across Murrindindi, which is no small feat. While Andrew Embling and Matt Ellis are the names on the gate, there’s been a huge behind-the-scenes team keeping the wheels turning.

We’ll inevitably miss some people, but special thanks to Trevor and Jake Armstrong; Andrew and Lachie Armstrong; Chloe, Ben and Sam from the Sabre Pastoral crew; Bruce and Alison Steuart; Nikki Embling; the Lions Club of Alexandra; Larry Fallon; Emily Salmon and Jay Rossely; Thornton General Store; Chrissie and Bailey Heath; Warren Davies; the Dame Pattie Menzies Centre; Simpsons Fuel; Murrindindi Shire Council; and many others who have helped move, sort, and deliver hay and other donations... or just keep the wheels turning in general.

More importantly, we also need to thank the hundreds of Victorian (and further afield) farmers, truck drivers, businesses and individuals who have generously donated and transported hay to the region. Some special mention needs to go to Need for Feed Australia, Jye Savage, Lions Club of Marysville, Victorian Farmers Federation, the crew from St Arnaud, to name a few... but to everyone who has donated and transported hay we say a massive thank you.

This was community at its best... practical help, quiet leadership, and people showing up for one another when it really matters.

Thanks for the fantastic writeup ABC News. It was such a privilege to be able to launch the Murrindindi Mobile Health Van in early January, and our responsibility to deploy it as needed across the Murrindindi Shire just a few days later in the aftermath of the January 2026 bushfires.

This only happened with the amazing support of our partners and local health providers! It's been a fantastic community-led initiative.

We look forward to seeing the van on the road across the Murrindindi Shire almost daily over the coming months.

The community-funded health van is staffed by doctors and nurses who travel to remote towns to provide care at people's doorsteps.

We're going to sound like your mother for a sec, but 'get your skin checked'!!!

It's quick. It's easy. It's at the Yea Saleyards on Friday.

Chances are that you get some peace of mind that you're perfectly healthy. Alternatively, jumping on that "ugly mole" earlier rather than later is always a good thing.

This Friday 6 February 2026 at the Yea Saleyards
Skin Checks – Check, Freeze, Incisions & Pathology Service
Health checks will be on a walk up basis from 9am.

The Murrindindi and Mitchell Shire Councils have kindly offered to cover the costs of "Free Canteen" at the Saleyards this Friday, as Bush Recovery support to the local community.

Also available, resources and support for :
➡ Bushfire Relief & Recovery Assistance
➡ Mental Health Support

This is a partnership initiative between Yea & District Memorial Hospital , the Murrindindi Shire Council , Alexandra Events and the Yea Saleyards Committee of Management.

It's always amazing to watch farmers helping farmers, and Plymouth Dale Photos has captured the spirit today's Victorian Farmers Federation hay convoy. Staging at Yea Saleyards, most of these trucks then headed up into Highlands to deliver direct to affected farms.

Amidst the heat and the dust, and despite the incredible losses that many farmers have faced over recent weeks, these photos are full of camaraderie and connection.

Thanks to all involved for this fantastic hay convoy, and thanks for Dale for capturing the moment so well!

A massive shout out to Chadstone Kia and Gary & Warren Smith Motors for the loan of the Kia Tasman to support the disaster recovery efforts in Murrindindi.

We only picked it up 24hrs ago and it’s already visited the Alexandra hay depot (pictured), been to the Yea Saleyards to help coordinate today’s hay convoy of 50+ trucks into affected properties in Highlands, visited the crew at Fawcett Hall and other properties in the fire zone, tagged in with support provided by Warren Davies - The Unbreakable Farmer, and more.

The Tasman is a perfect vehicle to get out and about across the Murrindindi Shire. So a massive thanks to the Leigh Smith, GWS Motors, and the Kia Chadstone teams!
