Brisbane this is your celebration.
Preparation for Brisbane Riverfire 2013
Today we honour past and present service men and women for the ultimate sacrifice to protect our nation Australia and for peace.
We honour those who died for us, were wounded physically and emotionally and those who have stayed at home to support loved ones.
We do not celebrate victory or glorify war - we celebrate the human spirit - the spirit of ANZAC.
We salute their fellowship and courage.

A Message from the heart, to the community of Mundubbera & Eidsvold from my Great Aunt Amanda.
Amanda was born on the 28 February 1918 in Eidsvold while her parents were visiting from Mundubbera and celebrates her 95th birthday this month. Amanda is the youngest of 18 children and is the last remaining child of “Christine” and “Otto” Maurer
Amanda’s parents (my Great Grandparents) were pioneers from Germany arriving in Australia in 1910. Her parents selected land outside Mundubbera in the O'Bil Bil area where the family homestead was built – ruins of the homestead still remain 103 years later on Maurers Road.
On hearing the news of the floods, she immediately asked her daughter to donate cleaning products for me to transport to Mundubbera.
I have spent many hours with my Great Aunt listening to wonderful stories of Mundubbera and surrounding districts. As the family historian, I delight in capturing these stories for permanent record on our extensive family tree. We still have a dear family member living in the district.
Hands on
