STOP TELLING ME I AM THE ODD ONE OUT!
(I hate to ask but I am desperate, so please read to the end and share!)
I hate feeling forced to use 'unsocial' media to share this, but I have spoken to so many other people of all ages who feel as impotent as I do in doing anything about the way that technology is destroying society. Whilst much technology is a good servant, society has become a slave to far too much - and I am frightened that unless something is done urgently ...........pray for our children and there's if humanity lasts that long.
So many things that so many of us have moaned about for the last maybe 5 years, and today I cracked
I have just cried my eyes out for half an hour because
my bank won't let me have my own money!
no mobile coverage in the house
5 weeks off the landline phone with no notification or apology from the supplier (from Christmas Eve!)
impossibly slow and often intermittent broadband connection
WHICH TOGETHER
makes modern life impossible.
NOREPLY EMAILS addresses, no accessible phone numbers, email or postal addresses for companies you would really like/need to speak (to another human) with. Advice to use internet links that don't work or set you in a perpetual circle.
COMPUTER SAYS NO GONE MAD! POLICIES EITHER CRIPPLING MANAGEMENT OR USED AS AN EXCUSE!
Please can I speak to/write to a human being.
Why when you phone, do so many offices only work 10-4, and 10-12 on a Saturday? Why does a phone call mean waiting at least 40 minutes during YOUR OWN working day in a queue? Why so many options, so many loops to get in? and when you get though - why is it so often the wrong person or you get cut off. THE SYSTEMS ARE NOT WORKING!!
Eeek I could go on for pages.....(and maybe I will comeback to it as there are so many examples of failures that the right person might be able to put right!!)
cathartic but not constructive - please someone pick up on this and package it for the (not so insignificant in numbers) disenfranchised to share, or publicise in any way
PLEASE EMPLOY PEOPLE!
PLEASE EMPLOY COMMON SENSE!
PLEASE WORK HARD AND DO WHAT YOU ARE EMPLOYED TO DO (during your paid working hours)
PLEASE CREATE SOCIETY!
WORRIED ABOUT THE ENVIRONMENT! Look up the energy usage of the Cloud and data centres!!! - often used to just share images of peoples tea!!! or to communicate with someone in the same room, or TO SHARE HOPELESS MESSAGES LIKE THIS!!
WORRIED ABOUT SECURITY! DON'T USE BIOMETRICS! When your face, eyes, fingerprint is used as a 'password', it is converted into data - data that can be hacked- and once hacked they are available to the world and unlike a password cannot be changed.
AND FINALLY for now
How vulnerable is Our Country? SOCIETY WOULD STOP OPERATING IF (even a few of) THE SERVERS FAILED!! Please someone assure me that these are in nuclear type bunkers protected from physical attack and that all personnel frequently undergo the highest level of security checks. Oh heck I have just checked the average server is 25 acres - quite a target!
