🏙️ Gemeinsam an starken Lösungen für Städte und Gemeinden arbeiten
Am 75. Österreichischen Städtetag in Leoben starten heute die Arbeitskreise.

Im Mittelpunkt stehen zentrale Zukunftsthemen für Städte und Gemeinden: 🏘️ „Zukunft des Wohnens“, 🤝 „Gemeindekooperationen“, ⚡ „Effizienter Energie- und Rohstoffeinsatz“ sowie 💻 „digitale Gewalt“.

Für das KDZ diskutiert Karoline Mitterer im Arbeitskreis 2 zum Thema „Gemeindekooperationen – erfolgreiche Modelle für Städte und Gemeinden“.
Gemeinsam mit drei Bürgermeister*innen spricht sie über Möglichkeiten, Chancen und Hindernisse von Kooperationen sowie über österreichweite Best-Practice-Beispiele und Erfolgsfaktoren.

✅ Erfolgreiche CAF-Implementierung bei den NÖ-Umweltverbänden

Ein starkes Zeichen für Qualität, Serviceorientierung und kontinuierliche Weiterentwicklung: Die CAF-Implementierung bei den NÖ Umweltverbänden wurde erfolgreich durchgeführt. 👏

Die NÖ Umweltverbände leisten eine zentrale Arbeit für Umwelt, Kreislaufwirtschaft und Abfallwirtschaft in Niederösterreich. 🌱♻️ Diese Themen sind entscheidend für Gemeinden, die Lebensqualität und eine nachhaltige Zukunft.

Im CAF-Prozess wurden besonders der klare Fokus auf die Umsetzung, die hohe Qualitäts- und Serviceorientierung sowie das große Engagement des gesamten Teams sichtbar. 💪 Professionelle Strukturen, gemeinsame Verantwortung und engagierte Mitarbeiter*innen sind wichtige Grundlagen für nachhaltige Entwicklung.

CAF steht für Common Assessment Framework und ist der Europäische Leitfaden für Good Governance und exzellente Organisationen des öffentlichen Sektors. Das Ziel des CAF ist die Weiterentwicklung der öffentlichen Verwaltung in Richtung Good Governance.

📍 Next week in Tallinn: European exchange on SDG budgeting and sustainable local public finance

How can budgets become a stronger tool for sustainability?
📅 On 17 June 2026, the TSI SLPF Civil Servants’ Exchange Programme will take place in Tallinn as part of the Sustainable Local Public Finance project.

🤝 The event brings together local political leaders, public managers and stakeholders to explore how SDG budgeting can be designed and implemented in public financial management.

The programme focuses on peer learning, practical exchange and concrete experiences from local governments across Europe.
Participants will benefit from:
✅ practical insights into SDG budgeting
✅ exchange with peers and experts
✅ examples from local governments
✅ discussions on sustainable local public finance
✅ new ideas for budgeting, finance and sustainability work

The programme is aimed at local political leaders, public managers and stakeholders working in budgeting, finance, sustainability and public administration. Cities from the Baltic and Nordic neighbouring regions are especially invited to apply.

Wie können Gemeinden Haushalte in Zeiten hoher und unsicherer Energiepreise besser beim Energiesparen unterstützen? 💡

Diese Frage stand im Mittelpunkt des Workshops „Energieeffizienz und Resilienz auf lokaler Ebene“. Im kleinen Kreis diskutierten Vertreter*innen aus Verwaltung, Praxis und Beratung aus Bundes- und Gemeindeebene über Erfahrungen, Unterstützungsbedarfe und konkrete Ansatzpunkte für die lokale Ebene. 🤝

Ein wichtiger Impuls kam aus , einem von der Austrian Energy Agency - Österreichische Energieagentur geleiteten LIFE-Projekt. ⚡ Dabei wurde deutlich: Erfolgreiche Maßnahmen brauchen klare Botschaften, passende Vermittler*innen und leicht zugängliche Informationen für Gemeinden. ✅

KDZ-Expertin Nikola Hochholdinger brachte Perspektiven aus der KDZ-Studie „Bekämpfung von Energiearmut aus Städtesicht“ in die Diskussion ein. Die Studie zeigt, welche Rolle Städte und Gemeinden bei der Unterstützung armutsgefährdeter Haushalte spielen können. ✨

💡 How can strong ideas become successful EU projects?

The Certified Program: EU Project Management by Campus Wien Academy, in cooperation with KDZ and , supports professionals in turning project ideas into well-structured, fundable and successfully implemented EU projects.

🎯 The programme provides practical knowledge on EU funding programmes, application processes, project planning, monitoring, reporting and dissemination.

📚 The part-time online programme includes 20 ECTS, is taught in English and leads to the certificate Certified EU Project Manager. The programme starts in October 2026.

Who owns critical urban infrastructure and how should cities govern it in the digital age?

At the next meeting of the KDZ network CSPF (European Cities for Sustainable Public Finance) we will discuss municipal ownership structures, governance models, and remunicipalisation in European cities. 🏛️💶

How can SDG budgeting support more sustainable local public finance?
