Jetzt handeln: Überschwemmungen in Mosambik

Die Wassermassen sind zurückgegangen – die Folgen bleiben. Viele Familien im Umfeld des Projekts KAMINHOS in Südmosambik haben ihre Häuser, Ernten und Einkommensgrundlagen verloren. Krankheiten wie Malaria und Cholera breiten sich aus, sauberes Trinkwasser ist knapp.

Gemeinsam mit Partnerorganisationen vor Ort unterstützt horizont3000 und die Caritas Vorarlberg die betroffenen Familien – mit Trinkwasser, Lebensmitteln, medizinischer Versorgung, Moskitonetzen sowie Saatgut und Hilfe beim Wiederaufbau.

Ziel ist nicht nur akute Nothilfe, sondern die nachhaltige Wiederherstellung der Lebensgrundlagen – besonders für die Kinder und Jugendlichen in den vier Tageszentren des Projekts.

Herzlichen Dank an das Team der Energiewerkstatt!

Seit Jahren unterstützt die Energiewerkstatt mit einem Teil ihres Erfolgs nachhaltig arbeitende Organisationen. Aktuell fließen 5.000 Euro in das Projekt „Solar Pledge East Africa“ von horizont3000. Damit werden Schulen und Gesundheitszentren in Uganda und Kenia mit Photovoltaik-Anlagen ausgestattet. Solarstrom ermöglicht

• sichere Geburten bei Nacht,
• gekühlte Impfstoffe, die Leben retten
• und digitale Bildung in entlegenen Regionen.

Neben der finanziellen Hilfe setzt die Energiewerkstatt mit ihrem Engagement für die Energiewende auch ein starkes Zeichen für Know-how-Transfer und den nachhaltigen Aufbau lokaler Kompetenzen im Bereich erneuerbarer Energie. Durch die Unterstützung des Projekts werden lokale Techniker-Teams in Ostafrika gestärkt und saubere, zukunftsfähige Energielösungen langfristig verankert. 🌍 G l o b a l C o m m i t m e n t M e e t s L o c a l A c t i o n 🌍

What happens when global strategy meets lived reality?
💡 At horizont3000’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) 2025 in Mozambique, discussions moved beyond conference rooms and into communities, projects, and partnerships shaping real change.

🌍 The AGM brought together members, partners, and volunteers
from Lemusica, Jossoal, Azada Verde, Esmabama, Conselho Provincial do Voluntariado - Manica, and CNV-Conselho Nacional do Voluntariado to reflect on where development cooperation must go next. Three key learnings stood out clearly.

👫 Gender equality needs consistent commitment.
Discussions reinforced that gender equality is not a side issue but a core principle. It requires intentional leadership, inclusive project design, and accountability, both within partner organisations and in community-based work.

💚 Climate action must be locally rooted.
Mozambique’s vulnerability to climate change highlighted a central lesson: climate action only works when it builds on local knowledge and strengthens resilience where impacts are felt most. Climate justice and social justice must go hand in hand.

🤲 Technical advisors and volunteers are key drivers of impact.
The AGM underlined the crucial role of horizont 3000's technical advisors & CNV's volunteers. Embedded in partner organisations, they connect expertise with local priorities, strengthen capacities, and help translate global goals into sustainable, long-term change.

🗣️ As one core message captured the spirit of the AGM:
“Sustainable change happens when local expertise, global solidarity, and long-term commitment come together.”

🫶 The AGM 2025 was more than an annual meeting. It was a reminder that meaningful impact emerges when reflection, cooperation, and action go hand in hand.

📚 And we flipped the script: For months, we embarked on an inspiring journey with 9 Partner Organisations across Central America. The goal was clear: To strengthen the capacities of our Partners to tell stories that connect, inspire and give their voice the power to change.

👫 We put People At The Centre of the narrative, focusing on their dignity and equality.

🎥 Results
Participants in Nicaragua, El Salvador, and Guatemala mastered the audiovisual production process: From script development to final editing with accessible digital tools to:

• Make their experiences visible 🎞️
• Spark empathy and reflection 💛
• Inspire change across society 🤝

In Songwe District, Tanzania, women farm the land daily & yet owning it remains difficult. Despite the Village Land Act No. 5, cultural norms, limited legal awareness, and low representation in Village Land Tribunals prevent many women from legally owning land.

What was the result?
✖️ Exclusion from land decisions
✖️Widows losing land when they remarry
✖️Men dominating registrations
✖️Women lacking the confidence and information to claim their rights

🤝 Change began when communities created space for open, honest public debate and community debates were held in 13 villages, bringing together residents and local leaders to confront harmful norms and understand the law. Legal experts clarified misconceptions, and simple learning materials helped families continue the conversation at home.

During COP30 in Belém, Austria’s Minister of Agriculture, Norbert Totschnig, visited our partner MAB's Climate Justice Project (https://horizont3000.org/en/projects/s-23-206).

We are grateful to the BMLUK for their financial contribution and for our good cooperation. Further support is urgently needed to ensure the project can continue.

für den internationalen Klimaschutz.

Unser Minister Norbert Totschnig (ÖVP) würde angekündigte 15 Millionen Euro für internationale Klimaschutzprojekte quasi in der Schublade verschwinden lassen schrieb der Standard.

Wir und andere Organisationen warten seit Monaten auf die Ausschreibung. Nun neigt sich das Jahr dem Ende zu und aus dem Klimaschutzministerum heißt es „Österreich leistet zur internationalen Klimafinanzierung einen großen Beitrag…. Und kommt natürlich allen eingegangenen Verpflichtungen nach. Die Zeiten der vollen Geldtöpfe sind jedoch vorbei.“

Das ist bitter!

🌍 Denn wir arbeiten genau dort wo Menschen am stärksten von Klimaveränderungen betroffen sind, aber selbst kaum zur Klimakrise beitragen.
