For the first time since 2000 Austria has the pleasure again of hosting the Model European Parliament. This comes as a special honour as 2014 is a momentous year: the centenary of the outbreak of WWI, European Parliamentary elections, the Fall of the Berlin Wall one quarter of a century ago, as such not only important events for Austria but for the whole of Europe. only aims to embrace the opportunity to reflect on the past but also wishes to send out a strong message from Europe's youth, from Vienna, the peace capital. For we shall not fight for the worse of Europe, but debate for the better of it! MEP will also be celebrating the twentieth anniversary of its foundation in 1994. For this occasion we will be staging a MEP re-union weekend, inviting former participants to come to see the GA and attend a traditional Viennese Ball (Fr 4.4.) and enjoy some socialising events on Sat /Su 5th/6th April. https://www.facebook.com/mepbfp

From April 17 to 22, the Austrian delegation attended the MEP Central & South East Europe session in Plovdiv, Bulgaria, represented by a Vice President, a Committee President, and 7 delegates.

Six days of committee work, debate, and exchange with students from across the region. Proud of the team for everything they brought to the table. 🇪🇺

A big thank you to the MEP CSEE organisers and our Bulgarian hosts for a wonderful session.

What a beautiful and unforgettable session it has been in Szeged and Budapest. 🇭🇺✨

From intense committee work and passionate debates to late-night discussions, lobbying, and the final General Assembly — this week was filled with inspiring ideas, teamwork, and unforgettable moments.

During this session, delegates from all across Europe came together to exchange perspectives, tackle complex issues, and work together on resolutions shaping the future of our continent.

But beyond the debates and speeches, what made this session truly special were the people. The friendships formed, the perspectives shared, and the memories created will last far beyond this week.

Grateful for every conversation, every challenge, and every laugh along the way.

💬 We hereby declare the 25th National Session of the Model European Parliament closed.

The Closing Ceremony marked the official conclusion of the session. Delegates received their certificates and awards in recognition of their commitment, engagement, and contribution throughout the proceedings.

The Plenary Session of the General Assembly marked the culmination of committee work. Delegates presented their speeches, committees formally defended their resolutions, and the assembly voted on resolutions and proposed amendments in accordance with parliamentary procedure.

Which systemic changes are needed in the EU to respond adequately to the environmental threat?

FEMM — the question of online harassment and abuse on women and girls.
How should gender-based attitudes be changed for a safer online space for women and girls? Which measures should be put in place in the EU and member states?

SANT — the question of the consequences of the lack of exercise among adolescent EU citizens.
Since inadequate physical activity levels in children and adolescents are a major health problem and may have lasting effects on the health of this generation, which measures should the EU and its member states take?

Celebrating culture as a cornerstone of Austrian identity 🇦🇹

Our Cultural Evening at the Esterházy Keller brought tradition, dialogue, and shared heritage together in a unique setting.

We sang songs from all nine Austrian federal states and enjoyed the richness of traditional Austrian national cuisine, making the evening a true celebration of unity in diversity.

An evening dedicated to connection, exchange, and mutual understanding.
