🏆 Another Win for Conservation 🏆
After almost two weeks of surveillance and patience, the team had a good win recently.
It came to our attention that an individual was selling guinea fowl meat on a large scale. Intelligence suggested that about 2 x 50kg sacks a week of these birds were being slaughtered and sold in Victoria Falls.
After successful investigation, the team launched a sting operation that led to the arrest of a suspect and the seizure of 11 carcasses.
Whilst many might say that this is survival, and not place much value on guinea fowl, they are a vital part of the ecosystem. Our job is to protect all nature.
It must also be noted that the accused is gainfully employed, and his part in the destruction of our natural heritage is nothing more than greed.
With the fantastic rainy season we have had, these animals have thrived, and as such have become a major target for poachers.
The shear volume believed to be killed on a daily basis is shocking and unsustainable.
As warriors for wildlife, we will do what we can to protect and preserve ALL animals, big and small!
Special thanks to the Wildlife Authorities from Zim Parks and ZRP for your swift and professional reaction to this case.
