Climate Change and Human Rights Education in Schools. Today we were in the rural areas of Kadoma : Leaving No one behind

Through our school sessions, we are empowering young people to understand the link between climate change and human rights. Climate change affects access to clean air, water, food, health, education, and safe living conditions.
When environmental challenges are ignored, social issues such as poverty, inequality, displacement, and gender based violence can increase, leading to human rights violations.
By educating and empowering young people, we are helping them become part of the solution through environmentally friendly actions such as recycling, tree planting, waste reduction, and protecting natural resources.
An informed generation is a powerful generation. Together, we can protect our environment, uphold human rights, and build a more sustainable future for all.

📍 Third Stop

Our final stop for the day was with young learners, where we introduced simple but important conversations about environmental protection, climate change, and the role each of us can play in caring for our planet.

Creating climate awareness from an early age is essential. The values and habits children develop today will shape the communities and environment of tomorrow. By helping young learners understand the importance of protecting trees, conserving water, managing waste responsibly, and respecting nature, we are planting the seeds for a more sustainable future.

Climate education is not only for adults. Young people have the power to become environmental champions in their homes, schools, and communities.

We are grateful to the school administration and educators for creating space for these meaningful conversations and for supporting efforts to raise a generation that values environmental stewardship and climate responsibility.

Many of the social challenges affecting communities today, including poverty, food insecurity, child marriage, displacement, and barriers to education, are made worse by the impacts of climate change.

Creating spaces where young people can understand these connections is critical. Knowledge empowers action, and action creates change.

The future of climate justice depends on informed and empowered young people who understand that environmental protection is also about protecting human dignity and opportunity.

Our and awareness sessions continued with learners at The Prince Royal 's College

Together, we explored how goes beyond environmental degradation and contributes to social challenges such as , hunger, , school dropouts, , gender based violence, unemployment, and inequality.

When communities are affected by droughts and other climate related disasters, the impacts are often felt most by vulnerable groups, particularly women and young people. This is why climate action and human rights must always go hand in hand.

By engaging young people in these conversations, we are helping build a generation that understands the importance of protecting both people and the planet.

As we continue with our ongoing training of youth facilitators in climate action, we are strengthening the capacity of young leaders to drive meaningful change in their communities.

Many communities and schools, particularly in underserved areas, often have limited access to climate education and environmental awareness information. Through these trainings, we are equipping facilitators with the knowledge, skills, and tools needed to engage young people, raise awareness, and promote climate action at the grassroots level.

By taking climate education directly into communities and schools, we are ensuring that no one is left behind in the conversation about our environment and our shared future. Together, we are building a generation of informed, empowered, and active climate champions.
