πΏ Workshop Reflections | Safeguarding Biodiversity for Climate Resilience & Sustainable Tourism in Zimbabwe πΏ
Over the past two days (25β26 September 2025), we successfully hosted a multi-stakeholder dialogue at Hillside Dams Conservancy, Bulawayo, bringing together government, civil society, academia, youth, and community actors to address the urgent need to safeguard biodiversity, build climate resilience, and strengthen sustainable tourism.
β
Day 1 Focus: Wetlands & Biodiversity for Climate Resilience β advancing post-COP15 commitments through local action, community stewardship, and policy dialogue.
β
Day 2 Focus: Biodiversity at the Crossroads β developing strategies to integrate climate resilience and sustainable tourism, ensuring that conservation goes hand-in-hand with economic opportunities for local communities.
π‘ Key outcomes from the workshop included:
Strengthened partnerships between local authorities, NGOs, youth, and community stakeholders.
Commitments to scale up wetland restoration and biodiversity protection as part of Zimbabweβs climate action and NDCs.
Dialogue on positioning sustainable tourism as a driver for conservation and community empowerment.
A call for increased awareness and education on biodiversity as a climate solution.
We are grateful to all our partners, including Hillside Dams Conservancy, NEAT, Zimbabwe Man and Biosphere Youth Network, WePlanet Africa, Climate Control, and Zimbabwe Workcamps Association, for their support in making this dialogue a success.
Together, we are proving that biodiversity conservation is climate action β and the foundation for a sustainable and resilient Zimbabwe. πβ¨
