Founded in 1995, Rujeko Home Based Care Programme is a registered Private Voluntary Organisation (PVO 12/2009) rooted in community-led action in 𝗕𝘂𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗮 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗖𝗵𝗶𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗲 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗰𝘁𝘀, 𝗭𝗶𝗺𝗯𝗮𝗯𝘄𝗲. What began as a home-based care response to HIV/AIDS has grown into a holistic, multi-thematic organisation addressing today’s interconnected challenges of 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵, 𝗰𝗹𝗶𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲, 𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗱 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗱𝘀.

Rujeko Home Based Care Programme works with 𝗼𝗿𝗽𝗵𝗮𝗻𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘃𝘂𝗹𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗿𝗲𝗻, 𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗴𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗯𝘆 𝗛𝗜𝗩/𝗔𝗜𝗗𝗦, while responding to the growing mental health and protection risks intensified by 𝗰𝗹𝗶𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗰 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝗰𝗸𝘀.

Last week, LHAF successfully convened its Steering Committee Strategic Meeting at the Ambassador Hotel in Harare - a powerful step toward advancing locally led humanitarian action in Zimbabwe.

𝘿𝙪𝙧𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙨 𝙝𝙞𝙜𝙝‑𝙡𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙡 𝙥𝙡𝙖𝙣𝙣𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙨𝙚𝙨𝙨𝙞𝙤𝙣, 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙎𝙩𝙚𝙚𝙧𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝘾𝙤𝙢𝙢𝙞𝙩𝙩𝙚𝙚:

✅ Operationalised its mandate, governance framework, and strategic priorities to drive LHAF’s mission forward.
✅ Strengthened LHAF’s institutional positioning and sustainability, exploring bold strategies for resource mobilisation, donor partnerships, private‑sector engagement, and collaboration with national networks and government institutions.
✅ Enhanced governance of the LHAF Knowledge Management Hub, ensuring improved collaboration, learning, and evidence generation.

✅Strengthened livelihoods for 11,000 𝙝𝒐𝙪𝒔𝙚𝒉𝙤𝒍𝙙𝒔 via conservation agriculture & small livestock.

✔ 736 HIV‑positive children supported through the We Are The Future (WATF) project
✔ 1200 women empowered through livelihoods, business training & ISAL
✔ 120 girls equipped with vocational skills
✔ 1200 beneficiaries reached under the Teenage Pregnancy Prevention project
✔ 3000 individuals supported during the El Niño Drought Response, including school feeding, cash transfers, seed distribution & mobile clinics

Yesterday at Cresta Oasis, LHAF members came together for a dynamic and inspiring 𝘈𝘯𝘵𝘪𝘤𝘪𝘱𝘢𝘵𝘰𝘳𝘺 𝘈𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘗𝘭𝘢𝘯𝘯𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘛𝘳𝘢𝘪𝘯𝘪𝘯𝘨. From revisiting the fundamentals of Anticipatory Action to digging deep into real experiences, challenges, and breakthroughs across agencies, the room was buzzing with ideas and energy. 💡✨
