Through the Accelerated Teaching and Learning (ATL) component of the Supporting Adolescent Girls' Education (SAGE) project, 5,657 marginalised adolescent girls and young women accessed foundational literacy and numeracy learning across 93 community hubs.

Many of these girls had never been to school, dropped out due to early marriage teenage pregnancies, or faced exclusion because of disability, poverty and harmful social norms. Through community-based learning spaces, trained Community Educators, Non-Formal Education (NFE) mentors, and strong community support structures, girls were given a second chance to learn, grow, and dream again.💙

The National Technical Working Group on Ending Child Marriage is currently underway, bringing together stakeholders committed to protecting the rights and futures of adolescent girls.

Child marriage remains a critical issue affecting girls across Zimbabwe, limiting their access to education, health, protection, and equal opportunities. We remain committed to supporting collective efforts to prevent and respond to child marriage and to ensure every girl can learn, lead, decide, and thrive free from harmful practices.

When every child is in the classroom, communities are stronger, futures are brighter and equality becomes possible. As the second school term opens across Zimbabwe next week, let us all play our part in ensuring every child is in the classroom where they belong.

When children are kept in school, harmful practices like are reduced, opportunities expand, and communities thrive.

Investing in education today is investing in equality, dignity, and a better future for all.

Palesa(17)

When financial hardship forced her to miss an entire school term, she feared she might never return.

But with support, she found her way back to the classroom and back to herself.

Through debating, she rediscovered her confidence, learnt about her rights, and found her voice.

Today, Palesa is not only back in school she is helping other girls stay there too.

When girls have support, they don’t just continue their education, they lead change.
