PROWEB PARTICIPATES IN NATIONAL GENDER MACHINERY COORDINATION DIALOGUE
PROWEB was among the stakeholders that participated in the Private Sector Orientation Meeting on the National Gender Machinery Coordination Framework, convened by the Ministry of Women Affairs, Community, Small and Medium Enterprises Development, with support from UN Women.
The engagement provided an important platform for the private sector to better understand its role within Zimbabwe’s broader Gender Coordination Architecture and to contribute to discussions on how private-sector participation can be better organised and strengthened.
Key areas of discussion included advancing gender equality and women’s economic empowerment, strengthening private-sector participation in the national gender machinery, and developing a coordinated and sustainable mechanism through which the private sector can contribute meaningfully to the national gender agenda.
For PROWEB, the engagement reinforced the importance of ensuring that women in business are meaningfully represented in the national gender agenda, with stronger connections between policy, private-sector participation and the realities faced by women entrepreneurs, with a call to move beyond programmes and activities to focus on tangible economic outcomes for women.
