Today we celebrate Linet Ndou an environmental scientist, climate activist and climate negotiator. As co-founder and Executive Director of Ukuna Environmental Association, she spearheads initiatives that promote sustainability and environmental stewardship.

In academia, Linet serves as an Assistant Lecturer at Great Zimbabwe University's Department of Physics, Geography, and Environmental Science. She also mentors students as the Environmental Club Patron, fostering a new generation of environmental leaders.

This is her message to you:

"For me, giving to gain is not a concept, it is the operating principle behind every decision I have made in my career. Giving has never felt like loss and your efforts always pays up. Giving to gain reminds us that generosity is not weakness but it is strategy and it is legacy. Every seed of knowledge, advocacy or partnership sown grows into something that outlasts any individual moment or achievement. Give your voice. Give your knowledge. Give your collaboration. That is how we change the world," - Linet Ndou

🌱 Beitbridge Youth Economic Engagement Programme | Progress Snapshot

On 27 February 2026, key government ministries, community-based organizations, and youth leaders came together in Beitbridge for a powerful dialogue on strengthening youth economic participation at district level.

🔑 Key Highlights & Progress:

Honest reflection on youth economic realities: high unemployment, informal sector dominance, and limited access to finance—alongside untapped cross-border trade and green economy potential.

Deep dive into the National Youth Empowerment Strategy, identifying opportunities in renewable energy, climate-smart agriculture, entrepreneurship, and innovation—while also flagging gaps in awareness, accessibility, and district coordination.

Clear identification of priority green job sectors for Beitbridge, including waste management & recycling, solar energy, organic farming, water conservation, and eco-friendly construction.

Strong consensus on the need for youth-friendly financing, simplified regulations, decentralized support services, and inclusive, gender-responsive economic participation.

Collaborative development of a Beitbridge Youth Economic Compendium to guide reforms, partnerships, and practical district-level action.

🚀 Key Outcomes:
✔️ Shared understanding of national frameworks and local realities
✔️ Agreed priority green economic sectors
✔️ Commitment to improved district-level coordination
✔️ Proposal to establish a District Youth Economic Working Group

🔜 The Way Forward:
Formalizing the working group, engaging financial institutions, piloting green enterprises, and sustaining multi-stakeholder collaboration to unlock sustainable, inclusive, and climate-responsive youth livelihoods in Beitbridge.

✨ A strong step toward turning policy into practice and potential into opportunity for Beitbridge’s youth.
