Give Light Foundation proudly welcomes Linda Jobson of ward 15 within Dawid Kruiper as one of our new GBVF Ambassadors. We are honoured and proud to have her join our organisation as part of our ongoing mission to combat the devastating impact of Gender-Based Violence and Femicide (GBVF) within our communities.

In line with the call made by Cyril Ramaphosa to address GBVF as a national disaster. Give Light Foundation remains committed to strengthening awareness, prevention, advocacy, and support initiatives aimed at protecting vulnerable individuals and restoring dignity within society.

Linda Jobson was born in Upington and currently resides in Rosedale. She is a passionate community activist, humanitarian, and advocate for vulnerable groups who is deeply committed to empowering communities through awareness programmes, support services, and sustainable development initiatives.
Known for her caring nature, compassion, and ability to connect with people from all walks of life, Linda strongly believes in treating every individual with dignity, equality, and respect. Her passion for helping others has led to her active involvement in various community initiatives focused on uplifting youth, women, and disadvantaged individuals.

Over the years, Linda has actively participated in community outreach programmes focusing on youth empowerment, skills development, social awareness, and support services.

She is particularly passionate about addressing social challenges such as substance abuse, poverty, unemployment, and Gender-Based Violence and Femicide.
In 2023, Give Light Foundation had the privilege of working alongside Linda on a community upliftment project aimed at supporting vulnerable individuals and families. During this collaboration, she demonstrated exceptional commitment, compassion, leadership, and dedication toward community service.

As Give Light Foundation, we believe that through unity, compassion, and action, we can continue fighting against the evil of GBVF by raising awareness, supporting survivors, empowering communities, and restoring hope to those affected by violence and abuse.

We are excited about the journey ahead and look forward to building a strong working relationship with Linda as we continue striving to create safer, stronger, and more empowered communities.

Driven by integrity, service, and a genuine heart for people, Linda Jobson continues to inspire positive change and remains committed to helping build a future free from violence, fear, and injustice.

*Portia Van Wyk
*Founder and CEO Of Give Light Foundation *

Before I am anything else, I am a community activist, a GBVF activist and an advocate for women, children, youth and the LGBTIQA+ community. My passion has always been to stand up for those whose voices are often ignored, to fight against injustice, and to create safer, stronger and more united communities for everyone.

This is more than just a title to me, it is a calling. Every person deserves to feel protected, heard, respected and valued regardless of their gender, age, identity or background. I will continue using my voice to raise awareness, support victims and survivors, empower our youth, and push for change where change is needed most.

Together, we can break the silence, fight violence, and build communities rooted in equality, dignity and humanity. 🕯️❤️

*Give Light Foundation*

Doing GBVF awareness programs means educating communities about Gender-Based Violence and Femicide, teaching people their rights, showing where victims can get help, and encouraging communities to speak out against abuse and violence. These programs can happen at schools, churches, community halls, workplaces, and public events.

When you do GBVF work you must also know what the NSP is that the president signed off in 2020 to be implemented in government departments, municipalities, civil societies, ect.

Educate the community the following:
What GBVF is
Different forms of abuse
Warning signs
Victims’ rights
How to report cases
Where to get protection and support
Provide support information

What is the GBVF Declaration of 21 Nivember 2025 that were declaredby our President?

The GBVF Declaration is a public statement or pledge where communities, organisations, leaders, or government commit themselves to fighting gender-based violence and femicide.

It usually includes commitments to:
Protect women and children
Promote human rights and equality
Support survivors
Educate communities
Hold perpetrators accountable
Work together to end violence
In South Africa, GBVF declarations are often linked to the government’s efforts and the National Strategic Plan on Gender-Based Violence and Femicide to reduce violence and improve support systems for victims.

Last year, my aunt Hanna Pieters’ life was brutally taken from her children and the family by someone she knew. The way she was found is something that will forever stay with us, and the trauma of that day will always remain in our hearts. 💔
Today, justice was finally served as the person responsible for her death was sentenced to 25 years in prison. While no sentence will ever bring her back, it brings some comfort knowing that accountability has taken place.
Aunt Hanna was more than a victim. She was deeply loved, and her life will always matter to us. May her soul continue to rest in peace. 🕊️

We also want to send love and strength to her children. We wish them all the best, we will continue to pray for them, and they must know that we will always be here for them.

A sincere thank you to the investigating officer, Detective Franklin from the Keimoes SAPS for his dedication and hard work on this case, and to Aunt Koeks for supporting the family, especially today during the sentencing. Thank you also to the Give Light Foundation team for standing with the family.

Good day to all communities of ZFM District.

On Friday the Give Light Foundation team stood before the court to hand over a memorandum on behalf of the many victims and families affected by Gender-Based Violence and Femicide (GBVF). Our communities continue to suffer under the devastating impact of these crimes, and many survivors feel that the justice system is not protecting them enough.

We are especially concerned about the handling of GBVF cases when it comes to the granting of bail. Too often, accused perpetrators are released back into communities where victims and their families must continue to live in fear.
As a country, we have already recognised the seriousness of this crisis.

Under Section 23 of the National Strategic Plan on Gender-Based Violence and Femicide, it has been acknowledged at the highest level of leadership that GBVF is a national crisis, a pandemic and disaster affecting our nation. This recognition calls for urgent, stronger action from all parts of the justice system.

Through this memorandum, we are calling for stricter bail considerations in GBVF cases, stronger accountability, and a justice system that truly prioritises the safety and dignity of victims.
We stand here today not only to raise our voices, but to demand justice, protection, and real change for our communities.

We would like to thank everyone who supported this especially to Amy and Fonna who came from Upington to support and also thank you to leadership Larry, we really appreciate all your assistance, support and help. Together we can make a huge difference and accomplish alot when it comes to our victims and survivors.

Thank you. 🙏

Education is the best weapon to fight poverty and change your conditions.

Pregnancy and motherhood at a young age not only robs you of a chance to a great future, but it also affects the prospects of the child you bring into this world as a child yourself.

Statistics reveal that very few girls who fall pregnant at a young age actually recovers from it to make it later on. For some the setback can be a comeback. But mostly the damage is done and withnthat a future full of promise lies shattered.

The father carries on, he completes his schooling. Moved on. You are left to care for thebunplanned child alone. You are the one to give up your dreams and your ambitions.

Pregnancies itself comes with ots own challenges. Some girls often pay with their lives opting for abortions performed by unqualified people. The trauma, of this, if you survive the illegal abortions will be with you forever.

Having s*x with a minor is illegal and it is classified as statutory r**e.

Be careful.

Be safe.

Be successful.
