The community of Tweefontein Phumula ward 23 is strongly opposing a councillor candidate who is seeking re-election for a third term despite not residing in the ward, contravening the organisation's guidelines. The meeting collapsed for the second time today. The organisation's insistence on imposing the candidate on the community against their wishes has led to a proposed two-day total shutdown next week, with no schooling or transportation, and the dates will be announced soon.

The organisation is scoring own goals and committing su***de by ignoring voters' call. The question is why the organisation involve the community but can't listen to their opinions and advice on alternative candidates, in particular women? The organisation must learn from Tshwane in 2016 at which Sputla Ramokgopa and Mapiti Matsena both contested for mayorship albeit from one organisation, which resulted with Thoko Didiza being appointed against the will of the residents, eventually losing Tshwane, to date.

SHUTDOWN LOADING.

The condition of the streets in Phumula ward 23, A3 section, commonly known as 'mabuyeni', is a pressing concern that necessitates immediate attention. Children are exposed to hazardous and wet conditions while walking to school, posing a significant risk to their safety. A concerned resident, who requested my assistance, had previously sought help from the relevant authorities, but to no avail. We urge that all residents be treated equally in the ward.

I hope the municipality will intervene and assist as a matter of urgency before residents are subjected to snake bites, robberies and ra**ng of minor children on way to school.

Good evening the community of Tweefontein Phumula.

This day marked a significant milestone for the Phumula community, which has taken a united stand against exploitation by Eskom. We have demonstrated that unity is indeed strength, and our next priority is to advocate for 24-hour health services at Manaleni, C and A clinics, respectively, as we are not only in need of medical attention during the day, and we will continue to push for this essential service.

In a previous post of today on my personal account, representing the Goodwill Foundation, I brought to the attention of MEC of Health Sasekani Manzini, Premier Mandla Ndlovu, and the Minister of Justice, to the challenges we face, and I have given them an ultimatum to respond accordingly, failing which will necessitate the implementation of STRATA tactics, and I am resolute in my stance. I appreciate the overwhelming support you have shown in our campaign against Eskom and encourage you to continue rallying behind our collective initiatives.

Steve Bantu Biko once said: 'Black man, you are on your own.'

Thank You.

Johannes Rapuru Matlala.

Chairperson (Goodwill Foundation).
