To God be the glory.

Today, Tshiamiso Astronauts and Reach Out Community Center brought government leaders, frontline crisis centers, SAPS, healthcare providers, and faith leaders into one hall in Evaton West for Safe Homes, Strong Minds, our GBVF Awareness and Family Healing Dialogue.

Thank you to SAPS, POWA, the Sedibeng District GBVF Rapid Response Task Team, the Gauteng Provincial Legislature's PPP Unit, Kopanong Thuthuzela Care Centre, LifeLine, the Gauteng Department of Health, and the Gauteng Men's Forum, for sending people who actually answer questions, not just hand out pamphlets.

Residents asked real questions about protection orders and left knowing which number to call and which office to visit.

To the stakeholders who couldn't make it and let us know in advance, thank you for that courtesy. We're holding the door open for the next one.

In 1956, more than 20,000 women marched to the Union Buildings in Pretoria. They were told no. They marched anyway.

Seventy years later, we are finishing what they started, one learner at a time. Every child who walks into a Tshiamiso Astronauts reading session is proof the march did not end in 1956. It just changed direction.

This Women's Day, we honour the women who marched, and the women, and future women, who read.

On 18 June, the school hall at Ekujuleni Primary School filled with something special: 39 learners from Grades 4 to 7, all ready to spell their way to the top.

One word at a time, nerves turned into focus. A tie-breaker round pushed the competition further than anyone expected, and in the end, 12 finalists stood ready for the next stage.

This is what the Year of Breakthrough looks like: learners backing themselves, out loud, in front of their whole school. Well done to every learner who stood up and gave it a go, Sedibeng West District, we see you.

If you are a student, graduate, or community activist with a heart for service, we want to hear from you.
