Yesterday, Mr Henricus Gysman van Oudtshoorn visited the Mossel Bay Joint Operations Centre (JOC) for a tour and an inside look at how our teams work together to keep our community safe.

He was welcomed by Executive Mayor Dirk Kotzé and Cllr Leon van Dyk, Portfolio Chairperson for Community Safety.

𝐌𝐨𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐥 𝐁𝐚𝐲 𝐉𝐎𝐂 | 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐔𝐩𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐞

Through proactive CCTV surveillance, community reporting via WhatsApp, and coordinated operations with emergency services and law enforcement, the Mossel Bay Joint Operations Centre continued to support crime prevention, public safety, and emergency response across the municipal area during the past week.

🎥 𝗖𝗖𝗧𝗩 𝗠𝗢𝗡𝗜𝗧𝗢𝗥𝗜𝗡𝗚 & 𝗣𝗨𝗕𝗟𝗜𝗖 𝗦𝗔𝗙𝗘𝗧𝗬 – 𝟮𝟮

Continuous camera monitoring enabled the identification of suspicious activities, fire hazards, traffic incidents, and public disturbances, with relevant authorities notified to investigate and respond.

🔥 Fire and smoke-related incidents

Fires and smoke were detected in several areas, including the Pig Farm bush area, Asazani informal settlement, Asla Park, Ndibaniso Street, Mountain View, and Alhof. Incidents were monitored and escalated where necessary, with fires successfully extinguished or no longer visible during monitoring.

🚓 Crime prevention and suspicious activity

CCTV monitoring assisted in identifying individuals carrying items suspected to be stolen, including a television, satellite dish, washing machine, fibre pipes, wires, and wooden materials. SAPS and Law Enforcement attended several complaints, confirming in multiple cases that the items were old or not stolen.

Notable outcomes included:
* An arrest for possession of suspected drugs following a suspicious-person complaint at Roselind and Jacaranda streets.
* An arrest for possession of a dangerous weapon and housebreaking implements following a possible robbery incident near Louis Fourie Road towards Dana Bay Bridge.
* Two individuals suspected of looking into properties were located by SAPS, with one arrested.
* Fibre pipes were confiscated by Law Enforcement following a report of a person carrying a long pipe.

🚔 Public disturbances and fighting

Several incidents involving fighting, suspected intoxication, and disruptive behaviour were escalated to SAPS and Law Enforcement. At De Bakke Beach, officers responded to fighting and public drinking, resulting in arrests and the removal of individuals from the area. In a separate incident, a complaint involving a person behaving aggressively near the Point area resulted in an arrest for malicious damage to property.

🚗 Road safety and emergency response

A pedestrian was struck by a vehicle at the intersection of Marsh and Cuff streets. The incident was escalated to the relevant departments, and emergency services attended the scene.

🏗️ Environmental and other compliance matters

A suspected illegal sand-mining incident near Burger & Seun scrap yard was referred to Law Enforcement. On arrival, the vehicle had left the area, and an individual found digging out grass was issued a warning.

📲 𝗪𝗛𝗔𝗧𝗦𝗔𝗣𝗣 𝗖𝗢𝗠𝗠𝗨𝗡𝗜𝗧𝗬 𝗥𝗘𝗣𝗢𝗥𝗧𝗦 – 𝟱

Community members continued to play an important role in reporting incidents and enabling the Joint Operations Centre to coordinate timely responses.

🥊 Fighting and aggressive behaviour – Opposite Zeppelins

The complaint was referred to SAPS. Upon arrival, officers found that the fighting had stopped and the individuals had left the area.

🔥 Burning bin – Mountain View

A burning bin was reported and escalated to the Fire Department. The fire was successfully extinguished.

🚨 Public disturbance – Point area

A complaint involving a homeless individual behaving inappropriately and disturbing members of the public was escalated to SAPS. The individual was arrested for malicious damage to property.

🚔 Robbery – Mountain View

The reported robbery was referred to SAPS. Officers attended, and a case was opened for investigation.

🎥 Theft investigation – Nautica Pump Station and De Bakke

CCTV playback was conducted for the reported theft of a grass-cutting machine. Footage covering the requested period was reviewed, and two individuals carrying grass-cutting machines were identified. The footage was downloaded to assist with further investigation.

🚓 𝗦𝗔𝗣𝗦 𝗔𝗦𝗦𝗜𝗦𝗧𝗔𝗡𝗖𝗘 & 𝗩𝗘𝗛𝗜𝗖𝗟𝗘 𝗧𝗥𝗔𝗖𝗞𝗜𝗡𝗚 – 𝟯

The Joint Operations Centre supported SAPS through vehicle tracking, monitoring, and the coordination of operational information.

🚐 Residential burglary – White Toyota Quantum

A NAVIC-flagged vehicle linked to a residential burglary was monitored across Mossel Bay, from the central JOC area in Mayixhale Street towards Voorbaai. SAPS apprehended the vehicle, recovered stolen property, and made an arrest. The suspect was no longer being sought.

🚕 Robbery follow-up – Dana Bay

Information relating to a minibus taxi allegedly involved in a robbery was followed up. SAPS apprehended the vehicle, recovered stolen property, and made an arrest.

🚗 Fuel theft – Church Street

A silver Kia Picanto flagged in connection with an alleged fuel theft was referred to SAPS. Feedback confirmed that an arrest had already been made.

🎞️ 𝗖𝗖𝗧𝗩 𝗙𝗢𝗢𝗧𝗔𝗚𝗘 𝗥𝗘𝗩𝗜𝗘𝗪𝗦 & 𝗜𝗡𝗩𝗘𝗦𝗧𝗜𝗚𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗩𝗘 𝗦𝗨𝗣𝗣𝗢𝗥𝗧 - 𝟮

The Joint Operations Centre provided investigative assistance to detectives through CCTV playback and footage retrieval for the following cases:

* Housebreaking and theft – was reported on 21 October 2026. Relevant footage was located and downloaded.

* MITP investigation – Church Street, reported on 23 October 2026. CCTV footage was downloaded and made available for investigative purposes.

🚨 MOSSEL BAY JOC | WEEKLY INCIDENT REPORT

Through proactive CCTV surveillance, community reporting, and coordinated responses with emergency services and law enforcement, the Mossel Bay Joint Operations Centre supported the management of 22 incidents and investigative requests during the past week, contributing to public safety, emergency response, and crime prevention across the municipal area.

🎥 𝗖𝗖𝗧𝗩 𝗠𝗼𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 & 𝗜𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗲 – 𝟭𝟱

Continuous camera surveillance enabled the early detection of fires, suspicious activities, public safety concerns, and traffic incidents, allowing for timely escalation to the relevant response teams.

🔥 Fire and Smoke-Related Incidents

Multiple fires were identified across the municipal area, including Sijaji and Mamase Street, Kwa Mast near the scrapyard, Cuba, behind Asla Park, Kwanonqaba, behind Build It Mossel Bay, Elangeni, and Louis Fourie Road near the transfer station.

Incidents included open fires, a suspected rubble fire, a field fire, and a shack fire. The Fire Department and Law Enforcement were notified where required, while CCTV operators continued monitoring developments. All reported fires were successfully extinguished by firefighters, bystanders, or individuals at the scenes.

🚓 Public Safety & Law Enforcement

CCTV monitoring identified two individuals begging at the Alhof and Da Gama intersection, as well as a person standing in the middle of Melkhout Street, creating a potential road safety risk. Both incidents were escalated to Law Enforcement, and one male individual was arrested in each case.

A group involved in a fight at Adriaans and Dywili Street dispersed before further intervention was required. In another incident, a person suspected of being under the influence of alcohol was seen sitting in the middle of Mayixhale Street. Another individual assisted in moving the person out of the road and clearing traffic.

🚗 Traffic Incidents & Road Safety

A broken-down truck obstructing the roadway at Tergniet Crossing was reported to Traffic. Provincial Traffic attended with SAPS assistance, and the scene was cleared.

🔥 Suspicious Activity & Property Verification

An individual carrying a large wooden board in Blue Waters was reported to SAPS due to suspicions that the item could be stolen. The person left towards JCC Camp before police arrived.

Two individuals carrying a washing machine near Alhof and Vid were also reported to SAPS. Officers attended and confirmed that the washing machine was not stolen.

📲 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁𝘀𝗔𝗽𝗽 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗥𝗲𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝘀 – 𝟯

Community reporting continued to play an important role in ensuring that accidents and medical emergencies were escalated to the appropriate response teams.

🚘 Motor Vehicle Accident – Groot Brak

A collision involving two vehicles near the Total service station, on the Groot Brak-to-Mossel Bay route, was reported and escalated to Fire Services and Law Enforcement. An ambulance was contacted, and no injuries were reported.

🚗 Motor Vehicle Accident – Adriaans Avenue, Kwanonqaba

The incident was referred to Law Enforcement. SAPS attended and instructed the vehicle owners to proceed to Kwanonqaba Police Station to open a case. The scene was subsequently cleared.

🚑 Medical Assistance – Waboom Street

An ambulance was contacted following a report that a security guard had sustained injuries. Emergency medical services were dispatched to provide assistance.

🔎 𝗠𝗶𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗣𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻 𝗔𝘀𝘀𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 – 𝟭

CCTV playback was conducted to assist in locating a missing patient living with Alzheimer's disease, last seen in the Mountain View/Koninklip area.

Footage showed the person walking towards Luthuli. SAPS subsequently located the individual in nearby bushes. The person appeared very weak and was transported to hospital for medical attention.

🎞️ 𝗖𝗖𝗧𝗩 𝗙𝗼𝗼𝘁𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗥𝗲𝘃𝗶𝗲𝘄𝘀 & 𝗜𝗻𝘃𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗴𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗦𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁 – 𝟮

The Joint Operations Centre provided CCTV playback and footage to assist SAPS detectives with the following investigations:

* Assault GBH – Marlin and Bonita, with footage reviewed for the period 21:00–22:03 on 26 September 2026. The footage was downloaded onto a USB drive.

* Reckless and Negligent Driving – Louis Fourie Road at Essenhout. Footage relating to the incident on 13 July 2026 was downloaded and handed over to the investigating officer.

Through continuous CCTV surveillance, community reporting, and close coordination with emergency services and law enforcement, the Mossel Bay Joint Operations Centre facilitated 32 incidents and investigative requests during the past week, supporting public safety, crime prevention, and effective emergency response across the municipal area.

𝗕𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗸𝗱𝗼𝘄𝗻 𝗯𝘆 𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗴𝗼𝗿𝘆:

🎥 𝗖𝗖𝗧𝗩 𝗠𝗼𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 & 𝗜𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗲 – 𝟮𝟮

Multiple fires were detected across the municipal area, including Ockert Bothma, Kwanonqaba, the Pig Farm, Mzamomhle Street, New Rest, Ndanda Street, Mayixhale, and Alhof Drive. Incidents were monitored and escalated to the Fire Department and Law Enforcement where necessary. Fires were successfully extinguished, including a house fire and a bush fire.

🚓 Crime prevention and suspicious activity
CCTV monitoring assisted in identifying suspicious individuals carrying potentially stolen property, including household items and building materials. Incidents were escalated to SAPS, with one individual arrested for possession of housebreaking implements and another arrested after entering private property. In a separate incident, SAPS intervened and confiscated a knife from an individual carrying a dangerous weapon.

🏗️ Illegal structures and compliance enforcement
Suspected illegal structures were identified in Ockert Bothma and Marikana Street. Law Enforcement attended, with officers confirming that structures in Marikana Street were being removed rather than extended.

🚗 Motor vehicle accidents and traffic-related incidents
Two Code 1 incidents were identified near Casino and Louis Fourie and at Casino Robots, prompting responses from the relevant departments. A taxi causing an obstruction at Bland and Mayixhale Street was removed from the roadway, and a traffic fine was issued. A separate pedestrian collision was located with CCTV assistance following a request from Law Enforcement, and the injured person was transported to hospital.

⚡ Infrastructure and public safety
A power outage in Kleinbrak was escalated to the relevant department, and electricity was restored. An open fire in Ockert Bothma was extinguished before Law Enforcement arrived. An alleged illegal hawker at the C*D taxi rank was investigated, with an officer confirming that the individual had a valid trading permit.

📲 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁𝘀𝗔𝗽𝗽 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗥𝗲𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝘀 – 𝟯

🚘 Suspected drunk driving – Mossdustria
The complaint was escalated to Traffic. CCTV monitoring was used to trace the vehicle's movements, and additional information received from the complainant was forwarded to Traffic for follow-up.

⚡ Power outage – JCC Camp
The complaint was referred to the Call Centre, and the electricity supply was subsequently restored.

🚨 Public disturbance – Bland and Mitchell Street
A person reportedly shouting at security personnel and refusing to leave the area was reported to Law Enforcement. The individual left before officers arrived.

🚔 𝗟𝗮𝘄 𝗘𝗻𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗰𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗔𝘀𝘀𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 – 𝟭

CCTV assistance was requested to locate an accident at the corner of Mayixhale and Scholtz Street. The Kwa Mast PTZ camera was checked, and the incident was located and confirmed as a pedestrian collision. Relevant emergency services responded, and the injured person was transported to hospital.

📻 𝗥𝗮𝗱𝗶𝗼 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘁𝘀 – 𝟭

A housebreaking and theft incident at the Point Tennis Court was referred to SAPS. Police were already aware of the incident and were on their way to attend. A case docket was opened.

🎞️ 𝗖𝗖𝗧𝗩 𝗙𝗼𝗼𝘁𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗥𝗲𝘃𝗶𝗲𝘄𝘀 & 𝗜𝗻𝘃𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗴𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗦𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁 – 𝟰

The Joint Operations Centre provided CCTV playback and footage to SAPS detectives to support four investigations:

* Murder investigation – Bill Jeff Pump Station
* Bicycle theft – Roselind Street and Jacaranda Street, Extension 7
* Possession of suspected stolen goods – 5th Avenue, Mossel Bay
* Common assault – Marsh Street, near PEP

In all four cases, the requested footage was downloaded and handed over to the relevant investigating officers.

Through continuous CCTV surveillance, community reporting via WhatsApp and telephone calls, and coordinated response efforts with emergency services and law enforcement, the Mossel Bay Joint Operations Centre managed 25 incidents and support requests during the past week.

📹 CCTV MONITORING – 14 INCIDENTS

Real-time CCTV monitoring enabled the Joint Operations Centre to identify and escalate a range of safety, crime, suspicious activity and fire-related incidents.

🚨 Crime, suspicious behaviour & enforcement
* Suspicious individuals carrying possible stolen property were identified at several locations, including Dyosi, Ockert Bothma, Buildit OV 2, MJ Harris, and Alhof & Roselind Avenue. Incidents were escalated to SAPS, with suspects either leaving before arrival or fleeing when officers arrived.

* At Buildit OV 2, three suspicious individuals were seen carrying two poles. The suspects fled on SAPS arrival, while Da Gamaskop confiscated the poles.

* A person pushing a trolley loaded with pavement bricks was monitored at Mikeva Circle. SAPS attended and instructed the individual to return the bricks to the site.

* A suspicious male trespassing on private property at Roslind and Jacaranda was located by SAPS and arrested for possession of a dangerous weapon and housebreaking implements.

* At the rear of Buildit, CCTV captured three suspicious individuals looking into business premises. One individual was seen jumping over a fence and stealing a green wheelbarrow. The suspects fled on arrival, while Law Enforcement recovered and confiscated the wheelbarrow, which was booked at Da Gamaskop.

🚗 Traffic & road incidents
* A possible drunk-driving incident involving a taxi was detected in Melkhout Street, Heiderand. The vehicle became stuck on the pavement and was later pushed away by a group of individuals.

* A motor vehicle accident was detected in Essenhout Street. The relevant departments attended the scene, with SAPS taking over the investigation. No injuries were reported.

* A person carrying a pole was observed near Crotz Road and Louis Fourie Road and monitored until leaving the area.

👥 Public safety incidents
* A fight between individuals was observed at Adriaans & Thembelihle. SAPS was visible at the scene monitoring the situation.

🔥 Fire incidents
* A skip fire at Barcelona Circle was reported to the Fire Department and successfully extinguished.

* A large shack fire in Dyosi was detected and escalated to the Fire Department, which successfully extinguished the fire.

📱 WHATSAPP COMMUNITY COMPLAINTS – 5 INCIDENTS

Community members continued to assist the Joint Operations Centre by reporting incidents and concerns via WhatsApp.

⚡ Power outage – Joe Slovo
The complaint was escalated to the Call Centre, and electricity was subsequently restored.

🚗 Damage to vehicles – Marsh & Cuff
A person was reported to be hitting vehicles with a stick. SAPS attended, but both the complainant and suspect had left the area. The complainant opened a case.

🍺 Public disturbance – Charles Street
A person who was reportedly intoxicated and behaving inappropriately was attended to by SAPS and instructed by his parents to leave the area. The individual complied.

🚙 Abandoned vehicle – Bayside Parking
A white Corsa bakkie reportedly standing in the parking area for approximately three weeks was attended to by Law Enforcement. A warning and seven-day notice to remove the vehicle were issued.

🏠 Person found on private property – Hoog Street
SAPS and security services attended. The individual was escorted from the property and was subsequently confirmed to be a missing person. SAPS transported the person home.

☎️ TELEPHONE COMPLAINTS – 2 INCIDENTS

🚨 Robbery – Casino Robots
CCTV footage relating to an incident on 3 October 2026 was reviewed. The vehicle was seen travelling from the Mayixhale direction towards DCS before becoming stuck alongside the road. Two unknown individuals subsequently robbed the driver. The complainant was provided with the procedure for obtaining the relevant footage.

🚑 Medical assistance – JCC Camp
An ambulance was requested for a 64-year-old man experiencing difficulty breathing. The matter was escalated to emergency services, and the complainant confirmed that the ambulance arrived.

🔥 FIRE DEPARTMENT ASSISTANCE – 2 INCIDENTS

* Open fire – Bill Jeff Pump Station
The incident was monitored and the fire was successfully extinguished.

* Shack fire – New Rest area
The Joint Operations Centre used PTZ camera technology to assist in locating the reported fire. The fire was successfully extinguished.

👮 SAPS ASSISTANCE – 2 INCIDENTS

🔫 Suspected fi***rm carriers – Blue Waters
SAPS requested assistance in locating three men reportedly walking with a fi***rm, with one described as wearing a yellow hat. CCTV playback was conducted, and three individuals matching the description were identified. The information was relayed to the investigating officer.

👧 Lost child – Essenhout & Louis Fourie Road
A child was observed crossing the road alone and appeared to be lost. CCTV was used to assist in locating the child, and Municipal Traffic assisted by taking the child home.

🎥 FOOTAGE REVIEWS & INVESTIGATIVE SUPPORT – 4 REQUESTS

CCTV footage was reviewed and made available to SAPS detectives in connection with ongoing investigations:

* Louis Fourie Road – Reckless & negligent driving
Footage relating to an incident on 6 October 2026 at 19:05 was downloaded and handed to the investigating officer.

Through continuous CCTV surveillance, community reporting via WhatsApp and telephone calls, and close coordination with emergency services and law enforcement, the Mossel Bay Joint Operations Centre managed 31 incidents during the past week.

📹 CCTV MONITORING & INCIDENT RESPONSE – 22
Our CCTV monitoring team continued to identify and escalate a range of safety, fire, suspicious activity and public-order incidents across Mossel Bay.

🔥 FIRE & SMOKE-RELATED INCIDENTS – 5
* Fire detected next to Langeni Informal Settlement – monitored and escalated to Law Enforcement. The individual responsible had left the area upon the officer's arrival.
* Open fire near Ockert Bothma Substation, where two individuals were seen burning old electrical extension wires – fire was extinguished and the individuals left the area.
* Two open fires reported in the Adriaans & Thembelihle area – escalated to Law Enforcement and extinguished.
* Field fire at Ockert Bothma – Fire Department confirmed it to be a controlled fire.
* Skip fire at Adriaans & Thembelihle – Fire Department attended and extinguished the fire.

🚨 PUBLIC SAFETY & EMERGENCY RESPONSE – 3
* Possible motor vehicle accident observed near Nautica Pump Station – Traffic was contacted and followed up. An ambulance was subsequently observed responding, and the incident was confirmed as an MVA. All relevant departments responded.
* Vehicle observed driving over a curb near 11th Avenue and Louis Fourie Road, with possible driver impairment – the situation was monitored and CCTV playback conducted. The vehicle later left in the direction of Provincial Hospital.
* Person in distress observed at Essenhout Robots, creating a danger to motorists – SAPS and K9 responded and the individual was taken into custody.

🚓 SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY & LAW ENFORCEMENT – 9
* Four individuals carrying a geyser near the back of Build It – SAPS attended and confirmed that the geyser appeared old and badly damaged.
* Suspicious activity involving a structure at JCC Camp, Walvis Street – Law Enforcement attended and the structure was dismantled by the Red Ants.
* Suspicious male seen entering a yard and removing unidentified items in the Adriaans & Thembelihle area – SAPS patrolled the area, but no person was found.
* Three suspicious males carrying unknown items near Build It – SAPS attended and searched the individuals; nothing incriminating was found.
* Five individuals observed smoking substances near Build It – SAPS attended; individuals were searched, with nothing incriminating found.
* Five individuals seen with a lawnmower and golf-cart trolley at Mikeva Circle – SAPS was notified, but the individuals left before officers arrived.
* Individuals observed removing building blocks at Mikeva Circle – monitored, but the individuals left the area.
* Suspicious individuals roaming around Marsh and Cuff Street – SAPS patrolled the area; individuals had left on arrival and were also removed by Alcatraz Security.
* Person carrying two tyres in Kanarie Street – SAPS attended and confirmed the tyres were old; the tyres were confiscated.
* Person pushing a trolley containing a shovel at Ockert Bothma – handed to Law Enforcement. The individual was observed digging in the sand and left before officers arrived.

🍺 PUBLIC DRINKING & DISORDER – 2
* Group consuming alcohol in public at D'Almedia Business Park – Law Enforcement attended, spoke to the group and instructed them to leave. They complied.
* Public drinking and a fight involving vagrants at the Taxi Rank – Alcatraz Security and Law Enforcement attended, removed the group consuming alcohol and stopped the fight.

🛠️ OTHER INCIDENTS – 3
* Code One incident at R102 & Da Gama – escalated to Law Enforcement, with all necessary departments attending.
* Two suspicious men at the James Street playpark, possibly attempting to remove poles – Law Enforcement attended; no individuals were found and the poles remained intact.
* Two suspicious individuals were observed near the playpark area and the situation was escalated for investigation.

📲 WHATSAPP COMMUNITY REPORTS – 6
Community members continued to play an important role by reporting incidents directly to the Joint Operations Centre.

* Possible trespassing: Person reported jumping a fence into a property at Blue Shed – SAPS located the person and conducted a search; nothing incriminating was found.
* Cable theft: Report received from 6th Avenue – SAPS/MB15 patrolled the area, but no suspects were found.
* Robbery: Incident reported in Sardine Street – CCTV playback was conducted, possible suspects were identified and footage was downloaded for investigation.
* Stolen motor vehicle: White Audi reported stolen in Oudtshoorn and last seen travelling towards George – CCTV and NAVIC monitoring were conducted, and the vehicle was subsequently recovered.
* Vehicle assistance request: SAPS assistance requested for a vehicle check – the necessary information was provided to the SAPS official.
* Abandoned vehicle: Bakkie reported at Bayside Checkers – handed over to Law Enforcement, with a W/N issued.

☎️ TELEPHONE COMMUNITY REPORT – 1
Possible break-in: Report received from Heiderand IPA – handed over to SAPS, with Absolute Security attending. The situation was found to be in order.

📍 NAVIC FLAGGED VEHICLE – 1
Silver VW Polo: Flagged on Mayixhale Street in connection with an alleged cable theft case registered in Prince Alfred Hamlet. SAPS was contacted and the investigating officer confirmed that the vehicle would be removed from NAVIC, with the case closed.

👮 SAPS ASSISTANCE & OPERATIONAL SUPPORT – 1
Suspected drug-related vehicle: A black Corsa suspected of being involved in drug-related transportation was monitored through CCTV and NAVIC. The vehicle was subsequently apprehended in Mountain View by Da Gama Skop Police and taken to the station for further investigation.

Through continuous CCTV surveillance, public reporting via WhatsApp and telephone, and close coordination with SAPS, Law Enforcement, emergency services and other municipal partners, the Mossel Bay Joint Operations Centre managed and supported 30 incidents and requests during the past week.

📹 CCTV SURVEILLANCE & MONITORING – 16
Continuous camera monitoring enabled the early detection of suspicious activity, fires, public safety concerns, traffic incidents and possible criminal activity.

🔥 Fire & Smoke-Related Incidents
* Smouldering soil detected at Louis Fourie Transfer Station; smoke cleared while being monitored.
* Open fire in Kwa Nonqaba monitored; the person extinguished the fire and left the area.
* Two individuals burning rubble behind Protea Park; Law Enforcement attended and issued two Section 56 notices.
* Open fire behind Asla near the N2; three individuals left before officers arrived and the fire was extinguished.
* Possible copper burning at C/O Burger & Seun, Kwa Nonqaba; Law Enforcement attended, the individual complied and extinguished the fire. A warning was issued.

🚔 CRIME, SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY & ENFORCEMENT
* Suspicious person carrying a heavy item covered with a black plastic bag in James Street; SAPS attended but no person was found.
* Female person allegedly held captive by community members in Kwa Nonqaba, Pakatita Street; SAPS attended and the person was detained.
* Person carrying a heavy bag in the Cape & 19th Avenue area; SAPS patrolled the area but no person was located.
* Individuals seen breaking into and stealing goods at Build It; one of two suspects was arrested with goods in his possession.
* Individual pushing a wheelbarrow filled with bricks near Ockert Bothma Substation; person moved into the Asla Park informal settlement via Sange Street.
* Two individuals carrying a wooden ladder and unidentified items near Roslind & Dial Brand; both were arrested by SAPS for possession of suspected stolen property.
* Suspicious individual seen roaming near Roslind & Dial Brand; SAPS attended and conducted a search. Nothing incriminating was found.
* Individuals busy with suspected illegal electrical connections in Sange Street; they left the area while the camera was being monitored.
* Individuals removing pavement at the Mikeva construction site; SAPS and Law Enforcement attended and stopped the activity. Only old bricks were found in their possession.

🚨 PUBLIC SAFETY & COMMUNITY INCIDENTS
* People sleeping in public at the taxi rank in front of an electricity box; Alcatraz Security attended and instructed the individuals to leave.

🚗 TRAFFIC INCIDENT
* Motor vehicle accident involving two vehicles at Casino Robots; all relevant emergency departments were informed. The driver who allegedly caused the accident fled the scene.

📲 WHATSAPP COMMUNITY REPORTS – 5
Community reports received via WhatsApp were assessed and escalated to the appropriate response agencies.

* Vehicle Linked to Theft Investigation – Riversdale
A vehicle reportedly involved in a theft case was last seen in Stilbaai. The vehicle was checked on NAVIC and identified as a white Volkswagen Polo Vivo.. The last recorded trigger was on 6 April 2025 at 08:44 on the Oudtshoorn R62 route, travelling from the Oudtshoorn front to the rear towards Calitzdorp.

* Robbery – Boland Park
Two suspects were observed following and cornering a victim before taking his backpack and jacket. The suspects were then seen walking towards the JCC area, while the victim continued towards Voorbaai. Col. Ge**er was contacted and provided with the information.

* Alleged ATM Fraud – Spar Danova
A report was received regarding a person allegedly defrauding members of the public at an ATM. The matter was handed over to SAPS and circulated for awareness among businesses and the community. No case was opened.

* Disturbance – Market Place
A complaint was received regarding individuals refusing to leave the area, becoming physical, and shouting and swearing. SAPS and Law Enforcement attended. On arrival, the situation had calmed down and the complainant was no longer at the location.

* Break-In – Rendezvous Liquor
The break-in was handed over to Mossel Bay SAPS. Officers attended and a case was opened.

* Medical Assistance – Sukula Street
A female person was reported collapsed and unconscious. Metro Ambulance was contacted and dispatched to the scene.

* Possible Drunken Driver – Hartenbos to Heiderand
A report was received regarding a possible drunken driver travelling in a white bakkie. Law Enforcement was notified and officers patrolled Louis Fourie Road in both directions, but the vehicle was not located.

* Medical Assistance – High Street
Absolut Security reported a person who had collapsed at 32 High Street. Metro Ambulance was contacted and dispatched to attend.

🎥 CCTV FOOTAGE REVIEW & INVESTIGATIVE SUPPORT – 4
CCTV footage was reviewed and supplied to SAPS and Municipal Traffic to support ongoing investigations.

* Hit-and-run investigation – Municipal Building
Mossel Bay Detectives requested footage relating to an alleged hit-and-run on 12 September 2026 at approximately 22:07. Playback was conducted, footage downloaded and handed over.

* Motor Vehicle Accident – C/O Mitchel & Marsh
Mossel Bay Municipal Traffic requested footage relating to an accident on 18 September 2026 at 08:09. Playback was conducted and footage was confirmed available.

* Suspected Stolen Goods – C/O Marsh & Beach Street
Mossel Bay Detectives requested footage relating to an incident on 18 September 2026 at approximately 05:00. Footage was downloaded, loaded onto USB and handed over to the investigating officer.

* Suspected Stolen Goods – Schoeman Street
Footage was requested relating to an incident on 22 September 2023 at approximately 18:25. Playback was conducted, footage downloaded and handed over to the investigating officer.

Noise Nuisance / Disturbance of Peace – Zeppelins Pub, Marsh Street.
The complaint was escalated to Law Enforcement. Officers attended and requested the manager of the establishment to lower the music. The manager complied and the matter was resolved.

🔎 FOLLOW-UP COMPLAINT – 1

Stolen Pole – James Street
A follow-up was conducted on a previous report regarding a stolen pole. SAPS and Law Enforcement had already been notified. An officer attended the area and, although no suspect was found, two poles were located hidden nearby following the officer's investigation
