South Africa will have a waning gibbous moon, with around 70% illumination. Not quite a full moon, but enough to add a little spooky magic to the night! 🌕

But remember, sharks aren't as scary as you think! ❤️🦈 These incredible, often misunderstood animals play a vital role in keeping our oceans healthy and we'd much rather celebrate and protect them than fear them!

📚♻️ TERM 4 KICKED OFF AT THE RECYCLE SWOP SHOP! 🌟

What a fantastic start to Term 4! 💚 Over 100 children came through our doors, ready to turn their recycling efforts into rewards and kick off the final school term on a positive note! 🎒✏️

This is where the magic happens. Children from our local community bring in recyclable materials and exchange their points for school supplies, clothes, books, toys, toiletries, and so much more. ♻️🎁

More than recycling — we’re creating opportunities for our children while caring for our community and the planet. 🌍💚 Every small action counts! ♻️

SHARKS IN THE CAGE. A WHALE ON THE HORIZON!

Yesterday was no ordinary day for our guests! 🤩 On their way back from an exhilarating shark cage diving experience, they spotted a magnificent Southern right whale, making an already unforgettable adventure even more special. 💙

🐋 DID YOU KNOW? Southern right whales migrate from Antarctic waters to the warmer coastal waters of the Western Cape between June and November to mate, give birth and nurse their calves. During whale season in Gansbaai, you never know when one might make a surprise appearance!

🦈 And the Bronze Whaler sharks? They certainly made a splash, too!

That’s the magic of the ocean — you never know what incredible encounters await!

🐋 3 DAYS. THOUSANDS OF OCEAN LOVERS. WHAT A WEEKEND AT THE HERMANUS WHALE FESTIVAL!

White Shark Projects was proud to be part of this incredible celebration of our ocean, marine life and the communities that care so deeply about protecting it.

From education and conservation conversations to connecting with fellow ocean lovers, the festival was a wonderful opportunity to share our passion for marine wildlife and inspire people to learn more, care more and take action for our oceans. 🌍

And one of the highlights? Meeting the legendary Hermanus Whale Crier! 📯🐋 What a privilege to experience this unique part of Hermanus’ rich whale-watching heritage.

Events like the Hermanus Whale Festival remind us that conservation is about more than protecting individual species — it’s about people, education, connection and creating a future where our oceans can thrive.
