Meerkats Community Service Day | Meerkats August 2026

On a Friday meeting the Meerkats headed to Welcome Glen Farmhouse to help hand out soup to the community and anyone there who wanted soup. This was an important lesson as service is a big part of SCOUTS instilling the values of scouting is vital at their young age, and anyway, they dearly enjoyed the affair. The Meerkats also handed out handmade cards to leaders of the community to say thank you for all that they have done. Then they had a great time at the Lego Classroom offered by the Community Farmhouse.

Regional Volleyball Championship | 22 August

The Rovers faced off in an intercrew volleyball tournament against Rover Crew and coming in a respectable last place! It really was fun and good to connect to the crews further out in the western cape region. Thank you to Durbanville for hosting the event.

Board Games Day | 23 Aug

Our Rover Crew met for a social board games day which was just a laid back and fun day for all, we broke out the squishmallow Monopoly- oh my gosh how cute! and Jenga as well as other fun games. This also completed recruit tasks for a handful of recruits so our crew should be growing even more soon! Stay tuned!

All in all a full weekend of Rover Fun!

Cubs | July - August 2026

Our cubs have been very busy this term. They took an active part in Jars for Hope, making 64 jars in just one evening! They also made native bird feeders for our local avaian fauna to enjoy. The Cubs have been very productive this term as they work towards earning more badges and learning fun new skills like growing plants all while still maintaining a sense of silly and fun - learning through play

Scouts District Quiz Night & Patrol Night | 14 August & 21 August 2026

Last friday, the troop headed to 1st Bergvliet Sea Scouts for the annual District Quiz where troops from around the Two Oceans District battle it out in their brains to have some fun and see who the most knowledgeable patrol in the distrit is when it comes to the chosen topics. This year our Troop did very well with Swifts Patrol tying for 1st place and Seagulls Patrol coming in 3rd. Well done to all who took part in the fun. Thank you to the district's Scouters and especially Rovers who took on the bulk of organising the event.

The following Friday patrols had yet another Friday of not meeting at the hall! Instead, they had to plan their own events, some Patrols had: phone-free game night, pizza and pool night, pizza and chill night, braai'ed or headed to the movies. They had great fun as this was a reminder of how important patrol time is to grow friendships and support a better experience in scouting. Thanks to any and all scouts who planned their respective patrols evening!

Meerkats | August 2026

Check out some pictures of the Meerkats getting involved in the Troop's "Roots of Service'' Community and enviromental service project. They helped by watering and gardening to attend to the beds as well as coloring in a poster to help grow awarness of the project. They sure had fun! Later this month our DS and ADS took part in the regional Meerkat skills day where the region held training for scouters on how to better support ''The Alternative Child'' furthering our Groups commitment to providing the scout programme to neurodiverse youth members that require additional support.

Crew Service Weekend | 1-2/08/2026

This weekend, following Paint Parkrun Purple, the rovers began a two-day long service weekend where they first started with a cleanup of Fish Hoek Beach, sifting nurdles and picking up plastic before helping with some gardening at a Safe House and then ending the day with ice lollies and pizza! The second day followed with a visit to the TEARS Animal Rescue Cattery where the Rovers continued their gardening efforts, fixing up a garden by repairing the wall, planting donated succulents, and clearing rubble. Cat & Kitten cuddles were absolutely required! The weekend ended with the very friendly kitties from the Cattery—a great place to adopt if you are looking for a furry friend!

Happy 70th Birthday to our Scout Hall!

70 years ago today, on the 21st of July 1956, the Terra Nova Foundation Stone was laid (photographed) wich began the construction of our hall. Just the thought of 70 years of Meerkatting, Cubbing, Scouting, and Rovering is enough to make you realize how invaluable our Scout Hall is to us as a group. Today is a day we should all count ourselves thankful that we are one of the few lucky Groups who own our scout hall. Let's also show gratitude to those who volunteer their time and skills in maintaining this integral facility, namely Deon Gildenhuys over the past year, but also all parents, scouters, youth members, and anyone else who has helped in repainting, fundraising, installations and anythin of the sort.

A very happy birthday to our hall; here's to many more Scouting Memories made within its walls. 🎉✨️🎊
