Follow To Keep Updated On All Things 1st Fish Hoek❕️ 1st Fish Hoek is a Sea Scout Group of Cubs and Scouts that meet every Friday at our troop hall.

We are a mixed troop, so both boys and girls are welcome. We participate in many exciting events and competitions throughout the year. Cubs * Aged 7-10 years old, meet on Fridays 17:30 til 19:00
Scouts * Aged 11-17 years old, meet on Fridays 19:30 til 21:30

Scouts | Parents Evening 16 October 2026

Last Friday our Troop grew in size a bit! Parents joined for a night of scouting fun where they formed part of thier scout's patrol. They then faced off in various tasks including decoding, pioneering, cooking and multiple bases. It was great for the parents to see what their Scout gets up to.

Gracious THANK YOU

Our Scout Hall recently had earthworks done, we have now leveled most of the scout hall so that we can go ahead with rejuvenating our grounds in order to accommodate more overnight activities at the hall such as camping and everything else we love to do- just a little closer to home now. Of course, renovations are never cheap so we would like to say a massive thank you to Africa civils and Demolition for completing this work out of nothing but the kindness of your hearts. It's local, kind and efficient businesses like Africa civils and Demolition and play a massive role in keeping Scouting well resourced and operating. If you are undertaking any projects that require demolition, rock removal or anything earth works we can strongly recommend Africa civils and Demolition. THANK YOU!

Meerkat Mob Day | 19th September

Our meerkats took part in the annual Mob day over the holidays, where they had good fun in a Carnival! Meerkats walked round to various stalls trading their tickets for participation in each game. An awesome end to term 3.

Rovers | Living Hope Food Donation

This week our Rover Crew dropped off 90 Jars of Hope to Living Hope Cappri NoordHoek for them to be distributed to hungry tummies across the southern peninsula. A big thank you to the Cubs and Meerkats who also assisted in making huge amounts of Jars of Hope for the project! Read more about Jars of Hope below (and perhaps make some of your own).

We would also like to wish all our Youth Members a happy school holiday, enjoy the break before assessment/ exam season next term!

Free Tires Up For Grabs

Next week our Group will be going ahead with earth works and needs all of our tires that outline our feild removed. We are giving them away for frree if anyone is interested please comment under this post or shoot us a DM! We are happy to collaborate with any buisness interested or anyone who wants even a few tires.

Last Regatta both our boats sustained damage that has resulted in them being deemed unseaworthy. This, unfortuantly has halted sailing at our Troop. Fibreglassing of this extent is typically very expensive and requires expert labour. Especially as we have discovered there is also wood rot in our number 34 (affectionately called Super Nova) which adds additional costs to the endeavour of fixing the boats. Nonetheless, our group is keen to get the boats repaired before Seamanship this year so that we may take part and hopefully defend our title as the winners of last year's competitions.

Thanks to a Kind Donation from a Past Troop Scouter at 1st Fish Hoek we have been able to begin the effort of Fibreglassing and removing rotten wood from number 34. If you are willing and able to make a donation towards getting our Scouts back on the water please do so!

Gordons Sheild | 12-13 September 2026

This last weekend our scouts took part in the Western Cape Scouts annual Gordons Sheild competition held at Hawequas Scout Ranch in Wellington. They competed very well, had heaps of fun and learned alot. We placed 4th overall and came 1st for bases! See scoresheet for more placing info. Well done to our Scouts and thank you to the Scouters and Rovers who staffed from our group as well as all the judges who made this weekend possible.

Cubs | Meeting Highlights September 2026

Last Friday our Cubs made it safley to the jungle in an action packed game of Crocs and Ladders! They continue to watch their seedlings grow as part of our Group's ongoing Roots of service project. The Cubs also took part in a fun 'Kims Game' where they used their senses to figure out what fruits are safe to eat in the jungle, how exciting!

Meerkats Community Service Day | Meerkats August 2026

On a Friday meeting the Meerkats headed to Welcome Glen Farmhouse to help hand out soup to the community and anyone there who wanted soup. This was an important lesson as service is a big part of SCOUTS instilling the values of scouting is vital at their young age, and anyway, they dearly enjoyed the affair. The Meerkats also handed out handmade cards to leaders of the community to say thank you for all that they have done. Then they had a great time at the Lego Classroom offered by the Community Farmhouse.
