What a weekend to remember for our Scouts at the Rayner Trophy challenge!
Despite the pouring rain and being completely soaked for most of the weekend, the boys pushed through with incredible spirit and determination. Starting out with only their coordinates and a sense of adventure, they set off from Silvermine Nature Reserve, made their way to Kalk Bay Station, and travelled by train into town where they spent the night at the historic Castle of Good Hope.
Day two saw them heading up towards Table Mountain before finishing their journey at Rhodes Memorial.
Along the route, they completed a variety of challenging bases including pioneering, GTA signals, advanced knots, code deciphering, stretcher building and carrying a teammate — all while clocking over 20 000 steps per day in very wet conditions. Their teamwork, resilience and positive attitudes truly stood out.
We are incredibly proud to share that 2nd Fish Hoek placed 16th out of 36 teams — a fantastic achievement in a tough competition!
Well done to our Scouts for representing our group with such determination. Onwards to next year’s challenge! 👏
