🤩Board Member Spotlight!👏
Meet Dr. Joann Chang, the Executive Director and Dean of Healthcare Programs at Arizona Western College. Dr. Chang strives to bridge education gaps by providing solutions such as funding for teachers. “I see the foundation as the gap filler that provides educators a little more to do what they need to do. A little more funding through grants to do that special project. A little more funding through scholarships to teachers in training.” Say “Hi!”👏 to Joann in the comments!

🤩Board Member Spotlight!👏
Meet Laurie Doering, who has served as Superintendent of Crane Schools for the last ten years. Laurie began her tenure with the Crane Elementary School District in 1983 where she has served in different capacities. She's helped the district grow as a teacher, professional development coach, school principal, and district superintendent. After a remarkable career, Laurie will be retiring at the end of June 2026 and can be proud of the indelible impact she's made in the lives of those who have known her. She is the epitome of grace in leadership and a standard for educators to follow. According to her, "When we come together across districts, roles, and backgrounds, we create something powerful." We're so excited for your next chapter, Laurie, and thank you for your service and dedication to the youth in Yuma County. Say “Hi!”👏 and "Happy Retirement" 🎉 to Laurie in the comments!

🇺🇸DID YOU KNOW: Memorial Day was first called "Decoration Day" due to the act of laying wreaths, flowers, and decorations at the final resting places of fallen service members. It became an observed day of remembrance in May 1868.
On this , we remember and honor the bravery and sacrifices of our military men and women, and pay tribute to them always for their patriotism and virtue.
