This is Mala, one of our Forever Fosters.

She is so beautiful… and when she came to us, she was just as angry as she was beautiful — maybe even more angry 😠

She had experienced so many disappointments and betrayals… she had every right to be.

Now she can still be a little spicy 🌶️… but she’s also learned how to be loving.

It’s taken about 3 years… a lot of patience, understanding, and consistency.

And it has been worth every moment to see her enjoying her life — safe, happy, and deeply loved 🐾💕

Chop Styx is at the hospital we found blood in his urine. He will be hospitalized for 7 days while the run tests to check his kidneys and blood pressure. We are hoping this is just an infection and not a decline in his kidney function. We paid $398 for his stay today. If you are able to donate we could really use the help.

🐱 Help Save Chop Styx — A Journey of Faith, Friendship, and Second Chances

In the quiet desert of the Arizona Department of Corrections in Yuma, Kurt discovered a calling that changed his life — caring for the abandoned cats who roamed the prison grounds. He fed them daily, earned their trust, and gave them names and love in a place that had little of either.

Among them was Chop Styx, a small Siamese male with limited vision and a gentle heart. Shunned by the other cats, he found refuge in Kurt’s care. Every morning, when Kurt called, Chop Styx came running — a simple act that grew into a deep bond between man and cat.

When Kurt’s housing unit was relocated, he feared for Chop Styx’s safety. Through faith and a few caring friends, Purr & Pour Sanctuary was able to rescue Chop Styx and bring him into our long-term foster program.

Shortly after his arrival, Chop Styx fell gravely ill and was rushed to the hospital. He spent nearly two weeks in ICU battling kidney intoxication, high blood pressure, and vision loss. Though he has stabilized, his care is ongoing and vital.

To remain healthy until his beloved caretaker is released, Chop Styx requires:

Daily medication (activated charcoal and renal support)

Prescription renal diet

Monthly veterinary visits and lab work

Vision monitoring and supplements

His care averages about $350 per month, and we anticipate at least 10 more months before he can safely reunite with Kurt. Our goal is to raise $5,000 to cover his medical care, food, and follow-up treatments through that time.

Kurt’s dream is to one day welcome Chop Styx home — to a safe, loving environment where they can both begin a new chapter. Until then, Purr & Pour Sanctuary will continue to care for Chop Styx with the same devotion and compassion Kurt showed him.

💔 A Final Wish for a Beloved Cat 💔

Animal lovers, we need you now more than ever.

A kind and compassionate woman—someone who adored her cats with all her heart—has tragically passed away, leaving behind many beloved feline companions who are now in desperate need of help. Among them is one very special soul: a 30-pound orange gentle giant who was her absolute favorite. 💔🧡

This boy stayed faithfully by her side, not wanting to leave her even after she was gone. He’s grieving, confused, and heartbroken—and he needs someone to show him love again.

We are pleading with our community: Please help us honor her memory and her final wish—find safe, loving homes for the cats she loved so deeply.

Purrspectives: Stories from Our Supporters
When I had to move away from Yuma for health reasons, circumstances beyond my control led to the moving van being rented last minute, and being told “It turns out that it will be impossible to ensure that Sour Patch doesn’t get outside since our cat goes in and out as he pleases.” Originally, I had been given the assurance that this would not be the case, and now it was too late to back out of the move.

I knew that the safest option for Sour Patch would be to find someone to foster her until I was able to get my own place, and then come to get her. I certainly didn’t want her to get out and possibly get ran over, and while I didn’t want to be across the country from her, I had to do what was safest for her.

Miss Lynne offered to foster Sour Patch, and I am deeply grateful for her and her son, Evan. Even when I unexpectedly came back to Yuma, they have continued to foster Sour Patch as I’ve tried to get my feet back on the ground.

Sour Patch is safe, cared for, and loved (even when she is in a sour mood), and I cannot thank Miss Lynne and Evan enough for all that they have done. Because of them, my girl is safe, I can visit her as often as life allows me, and I will be able to bring her home as soon as my living situation allows me to.

Because of Miss Lynne and Evan, I don’t have to worry about Sour Patch as I focus on my health and getting back on my feet. They truly love and care for every cat that is in their care, and they put in a lot of time and energy into caring for them. They know each cat’s personalities, they ensure that each cat is given attention and affection, and they take in each cat and accept that cat and all of his or her quirks.

Without people like Miss Lynne and Evan, I can’t imagine how things would have ended up turning out. For the rest of my life, I will be eternally grateful for them, and I wish that I were in a position to do more than type their praises. Miss Lynne is a warm, kind-hearted, understanding, and loving human being, and she has been a blessing to Sour Patch and I. Evan is a sweet young man, always with a laugh to share and a cat in his arms.

Supporting Purr and Pour Cat Sanctuary is supporting not just two kind-hearted people, but supporting cats who would either have nowhere else to go, or cats whose humans are just trying to give their cats a safe place to be while they get their feet back on the ground. Miss Lynne and Evan are in this for the right reasons- not for the fame, the drama, or the accolades. They are in this because their hearts truly love cats, and because they truly want to help.
