Pleasant Valley Veterans Retreat Featured on “Creatures of Statute” Podcast
Young, AZ – Gila County’s vision for supporting veterans in Arizona’s Rim Country is highlighted in the latest episode of the Creatures of Statute podcast, which takes listeners on the road to the Pleasant Valley Veterans Retreat in Young, Arizona.
The retreat, located on a former U.S. Forest Service administrative site in the heart of the Tonto National Forest, is a Gila County-led initiative that is already welcoming veterans while continuing to expand and develop the property into a larger retreat experience.
In the episode, Gila County Supervisor Woody Cline and Executive Assistant Cathy Melvin walk listeners through the years-long effort to bring the project to life. Their discussion details the extensive collaboration with the U.S. Forest Service and partners across county, state, and federal government, including advancing federal legislation necessary to convey the property to Gila County.
Today, the retreat is already serving veterans seeking a quiet place to reconnect with nature, build community with fellow veterans, and find peace in the scenic surroundings of Pleasant Valley. When fully developed, the more than 200-acre property will offer expanded opportunities for veterans to visit, connect, and heal in one of Arizona’s most beautiful and tranquil settings.
“This project represents the commitment of many partners who believe in providing meaningful spaces for those who have served our country,” said Supervisor Woody Cline.
The episode offers listeners an inside look at the vision, partnerships, and perseverance behind the Pleasant Valley Veterans Retreat.
