We are so grateful to Canyon State Horsemanship, LLC for their help with Tater. He got his teeth floated and vaccinated a few days ago and has been improving leaps and bounds. We are currently close to $3k in expenses for Tater and would love some help offsetting his costs. Can you help us? We will do everything in our power for him to have a success story!

We just dropped Tater off with his trainer, Canyon State Horsemanship, LLC. He settled in great, which was nice to see. She recommended that we start him on an ulcer product, which I strongly agree. Is anyone willing to sponsor this and buy it for him?

Tater’s proud flesh is continuing to heal. Last time I used honey on it before rewrapping and it made a difference. This time, I only had vetricyn in my horse trailer first aid kit so used that on it. (Most of my first aid supplies are still at the old location). He goes to a trainer on Tuesday for a 2 week trial. She will continue wrapping his wound while he’s in training. Wish him luck to be a good student and be willing to learn. If you are willing and able to offset his training expenses, we’d be most grateful 🥰

We are bringing Tater to a trainer on Tuesday morning. We've spoken with her and she sounds like exactly what Tater needs. We haven't been able to spend the time with him that he needs to get past his fears. Can you help us offset some of his expenses? This is his new trainer:

Tater had his wound cleaned and rewrapped today and then moved to our new location. We had a minor incident when unwrapping his old wrap and it getting stuck - I decided to use surgical scissors to cut it off but ended up poking him, which caused him to kick ferociously at my hand and leap forward. My bad - I deserved that 😞 I think I need to rewrap his leg daily, though I hate to waste bandage material. This last time, I went 3 days between rewrapping and it was too long. Also, the first wrap bandage, I used silver sulphadiazine cream, the second time I used NuStock - I don’t think the NuStock helped at all. Today, I used all natural honey from our supporter, Lisa Jordan Nelson in Washington. We will see how it looks in 1-2 days 🙂 In the mean time, he seems to be happy and settling in at our new property 🥰 (And yes, I still need a rope to pick up his feet as he’s still fairly reactive, aggressive and very willing to strike the second he feels trapped or scared)

I’m keeping Tater’s leg wrapped, which seems to be helping the proud flesh. It’s also helping him learn to be handled, even while still very nervous and scared.

Tater has continued to rethink his outlaw ways and today, let me clean his proud flesh wound and wrap it. He was scared but never aggressive. He’s definitely not trustworthy yet but at least he’s making progress and we are able to give him the care he needs. 😊

Side note: he’s in a dry lot by himself but the ground is very dusty and powdery, the consistency of baby powder. I really hoped I could get it wrapped to protect it from the dirt.

Tater’s session with Kensley Pearce made ALL the difference with Tater. He was pretty tired all day and spent a lot of time laying down. This evening I went out to see if I could handle him enough to clean his wound. He very much surprised me and I’m hoping he continues with this agreeable mindset. I still don’t trust him as far as I can throw him but it’s a start in the right direction! Hopefully now I can get ahead of his proud flesh!

Our newest rescue, Tater, has been one of our biggest challenges yet. To make matters worse was his minor injury that happened on April 2nd, 25 days ago that has blown up into proud flesh 😞 while we’ve been able to give him antibiotics and bute orally (he’s been on 10 days of Uniprim am & pm and Enroflox for the past 15 days), we’ve been unable to clean or treat the wound due to his aggression and striking/biting/kicking. We were able to get the help of a professional mustang trainer, Kensley Pearce, today who worked him through some of his aggression. She was able to thoroughly clean his wound and apply AlumaSpray at the end of our session. Hopefully with what he learned today, we can continue to clean and treat his wound and perhaps even wrap it to get the proud flesh to go down. However, he’s no where near safe or trustworthy yet 😞

We haven’t had any fundraisers in over a year and funds have been minimal with Tater so far, but we’ve spent about $800 for antibiotics, vet and training to help him in the month we’ve had him. Can you help us with his expenses?
