The Girls Run The World Aurora, IL chapter and the Yorkville Chapter were treated to such a deep outpouring of passion and sisterhood on Monday night. Dr. Sheela Vemu, professor at Waubonsee Community College and her former student Maria Aguilar, now an employee of Fox Metro, demonstrated in real time the ways we hold one another up and keep each other going. The women who support the work of Girls Run The World in Aurora and Yorkville do this for one another. We are mentors for the girls in our charge, but we are also sisters to one another. We are lucky to have sisters like Barb of JDPhotography LLC who takes beautiful pictures at our event each year and helps us capture the spirit of generosity that this is all about. We have new sisters joining the fold like DrSisceo Weatherspoon of Raising Our Daughters Foundation and Deb Priebe of Yorkville Junior Women's Club. To every person who donated, attended, shopped the girl bosses, and bought raffle tickets, we thank you! Your support will help us dream bigger for our girls!

We work for weeks to prepare and it still amazes us how our students, families, and community show up for the annual reception. Thank you to Waubonsee Community College for hosting us in a beautiful space and allowing our GRTW Leadership & Scholarship Reception to be such a success. The first one we're highlighting is an award winning teacher, Dr. Sheela Vemu, Associate Professor of Biology at Waubonsee Community College and Women in STEM Advocate.
