LAST CALL! 🍠

Sweet potato planting season is coming to an end, and this is your final chance to grab our organically grown slips before they’re gone.

We still have:
💜 Stokes Purple – Deep purple flesh packed with antioxidants and a rich, sweet flavor.
🤍 Japanese Sweet Potato – Creamy white flesh with a chestnut-like sweetness that’s incredible roasted, baked, or turned into fries.

Sweet potatoes love our long North Texas summers, but they need time to establish before the season starts winding down. Plant them now, keep them watered while they root, and you’ll be rewarded with a beautiful harvest this fall.

If you’ve been meaning to grow your own sweet potatoes but haven’t gotten around to it, this is your sign. Once these slips are gone, that’s it for the season!

Our Zelli Pasta shelf is looking mighty fine again. It still amazes us how much of this handcrafted pasta y’all go through every single week. That says a lot about the difference quality makes.

We’re excited to welcome Marathon Roasted Coffee as both a full-time shelf vendor and regular pop-up vendor at Wylie Urban Farm & Market!

Coffee was first discovered in the highlands of Ethiopia, and Marathon is bringing some of the country’s most celebrated single-origin beans to North Texas.

Choose from legendary regions like Yirgacheffe, known for floral citrus notes, Guji, with rich cocoa and berry flavors, and Sidamo, famous for its peach, blueberry, and chocolate character. These tasting notes aren’t added, they’re naturally created by the region’s volcanic soils, mountain elevations, climate, and careful processing.

Freshly roasted and crafted with care, every bag showcases the unique personality of its origin. And if you’re a cold brew fan, don’t leave without trying what we think is some of the best cold brew in North Texas.

🧅 The Blackland Prairie was built for onions.

Long before subdivisions and highways, the deep black clay soils stretching from Dallas through Royse City, Farmersville, Wylie, and beyond made this one of the most productive agricultural regions in Texas. Rich in minerals and organic matter, these prairie soils hold moisture through our hot summers while producing onions with exceptional sweetness, crisp texture, and incredible storage quality.

These aren’t commodity onions shipped across the country.

These are fresh summer onions grown just down the road by Farmer Roy of Jack Rabbit Gardens in Royse City. They’re a seasonal treat that reminds us what local food is supposed to taste like.

Wylie Urban Farm & Market was founded on a simple belief: when neighbors each grow a little extra, we all become more resilient.

Some people grow tomatoes. Others raise onions, mushrooms, herbs, eggs, or flowers. Together, those small surpluses create something much bigger than any one farm could accomplish alone—a local food system that keeps dollars in our communities, shortens supply chains, preserves freshness, and supports healthier soils.

Industrial agriculture has given us abundance, but often at the cost of soil biology and the incredible microbial diversity that helps create nutrient-dense food. Every time we support a local grower working with living soils, we’re investing in rebuilding those biological systems while putting fresher, more flavorful food on our tables.

So this week, help us celebrate Farmer Roy’s hard work.

Pick up a few of these beautiful Blackland Prairie onions, thank the hands that grew them, and enjoy one of the simple pleasures of a North Texas summer.
