A federal court issued a preliminary injunction blocking the US Postal Service (USPS) from implementing President Trump’s 2026 executive order restricting mail voting, in a case brought by a coalition of nonpartisan voting rights groups.

This ruling blocks USPS from implementing Section 3 of the executive order for the November 3 midterm elections and any earlier federal election. The court held unequivocally that “the executive branch has no authority to regulate elections” and recognized that the executive order is currently causing "irreparable harm” to both voting rights groups and voters by creating confusion about the mail ballots that millions of voters rely on.

The suit from voting rights groups was filed by the League of Women Voters of Massachusetts, the League of Women Voters, Association of Americans Resident Overseas (AARO), U.S. Vote Foundation, OCA - Asian Pacific American Advocates (OCA), and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.

Your votes matters -- you should know its power! In close elections, a single vote can totally change the outcome. This is especially prevalent in local elections, where there are fewer votes and each vote is relatively stronger. Don't forget your local elections, and don't forget the power of your vote.

The City of Worcester and the Worcester Regional Research Bureau (WRRB) will present a State of the City Address on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, at Worcester City Hall.

“The City of Worcester has experienced another year of big successes and challenges – we’ve proposed our first billion-dollar budget, broke ground on a Day Resource Center, and launched a much needed Housing Production Plan,” said City Manager Eric D. Batista. “These are some of the developments from the past year that will be reflected upon at our annual State of the City Address. Beyond reflection, we will celebrate all that makes Worcester the beautiful and thriving city that it is.”

“With Worcester continuing our extraordinary growth to nearly 214,000 residents, the Research Bureau is honored to continue our tradition hosting a State of the City address by City Manager Eric Batista,” said Worcester Regional Research Bureau Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer Paul Matthews. “We look forward to providing him with an opportunity to share his perspective and vision for the future of New England's second largest city.”

Voter Choice Massachusetts is seeking people to collect signatures for a ballot measure sponsored by the Secretary of State, Bill Galvin. Election Day Voter Registration for Massachusetts would permit eligible individuals to register to vote or update their voter registration address on Election Day.

If an individual did not present proof of residency, they would be allowed to cast a provisional ballot, which would be counted only if the individual returned to provide the required information before the close of polls for a municipal election; within two days after a state primary; or within six days after a state election. Individuals who register to vote on Election Day would be registered to vote in future elections as well as in the election taking place that day.

Individuals who are already registered to vote would not be able to change their political party affiliation on Election Day.

The proposed law would take effect on January 1, 2028.
