Worcester Youth Rugby

Worcester Youth Rugby Worcester Youth Rugby is for all kids in the Worcester County area. From kindergarten up through high school we offer a fun rugby experience. All are welcome.

K-6th grade is coed flag rugby. 7th grade and up is full contact. Worcester Rookie Rugby was formed in 2007 by former players of the Worcester Rugby Football Club. Since that first season, we have had almost 500 boys and girls learn the basic rules and sportsmanship associated with the sport of rugby. The players are divided into coed appropriate age groups. The basic rules are to carry the ball

across the opponents goal line, called the try line, and touch the ball down, without your flag being pulled off your belt. The kids learn they have to work together by passing the ball to each other in order to make this happen. It is so gratifying to watch kids start off not knowing each other yet end up becoming good friends. So the learning begins. The season ends with a jamboree of several teams and up to 400 kids in a day of wonderful, organized chaos. Please feel free to post a question or contact a coach with any questions.
