We are very sorry to share that this morning, Emma passed away.
Emma led a great life, ate well, had a children's book and a fan club, and was a senior sheep (which you might not necessarily guess).
She passed while cradled by Colin.

Today, we welcomed our master shearer, Kevin Ford, to the farm for our annual sheep shearing!

Our girls were thrilled to get their fleeces trimmed off, although it takes some time for them to recognize themselves and each other.

We are so grateful to our farmhands who help us keep the farm running like a well oiled machine! Special thanks to Rich T., Patricia K. & her family, Cat H. & her family, Kieran R., Dianne B., Abby & Nora, Polly H., Elisabeth Donker, and Olivia for all your help today, and always!

Fleeces will be processed into yarn soon!

🙌🏼 Singing the highest of praises to Bill, Dianne, & Steve for their help with clearing away the 8 downed trees from last Tuesday’s storm (many not pictured). Thank you, all! That was quite a bit of work!

We also managed to patch up the many sections of damaged fencing.

A weasel living in the stonewall came out to help us towards the end. We’d thank them by name, too, but there’s a bit of a language barrier.

Tonight's thunderstorm brought down a massive old tree at Donker Farm , which quite miraculously fell, yet, missed a lot of critical things as it did so. A special thanks to Mark Barbour who cut a bunch of the mess, and particularly important, a path to the hen house!

These White ash trees keep giving us a run for our money out in the woods as they decline from Emerald Ash Borer and Ash Decline.
In this case we lost an Ash at Donker Farm that took out our sheep enclosure. Luckily no sheep made a break for it, the trail is cleared, and the metal fence was mangled back into service!
