Our Story

*Main IDEA empowers youth by providing quality accessible arts programs to under-resourced communities.

In many ways, Main IDEA began as an “idea” in “Main” South. In July 2011, group of local artists and Clark University students living in Main South wanted to pool their resources together to help make the arts more accessible to the youth in their neighborhood. What started as an idea eventually transformed into an annual tradition, and later into a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization in 2015.

By partnering with community volunteers and Clark University students, Main IDEA offers free and accessible after school and summer arts program to youth in Worcester, featuring exploratory classes in visual art, music, drama, creative writing, and dance!

Main IDEA has expanded has transformed from a 1-week summer project serving 50 youth ages 8-12, into a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with nine programs and dozens of events throughout the year, serving over 1,500 youth ages 6-17.
