Our hearts are heavy with the very sad news that our friend and SHARE Union Representative Bob Doiron passed away. He died after a long hard struggle with COVID-19. Such an incredibly cruel disease.
Bob cared deeply about the work of Marlborough Hospital and especially about the staff. He believed that Marlborough Hospital needed a union, even though he didn’t see himself as pro-union in general.
Bob played a key role in building the SHARE union at Marlborough Hospital, beginning by showing at the very first meeting of people who were interested. During the organizing campaign, Bob talked tirelessly with his co-workers about the union, always listening, always treating co-workers’ views with respect. Bob was solid and reliable — if he said he’d be there at a union breakfast to talk with other 3rd shift workers, he’d be there. And he’d bring his coworkers along.
Bob also helped us get our first contract -- he participated in so many meaningful ways, from attending every event, to talking with coworkers, to having conversations with legislators. Bob's dedication to the union didn't end there -- he decided to become a union rep for his department so he could continue to be involved.
Bob was kind, funny, a good friend, and a good talker. We will miss him dearly. Our hearts go out to his family in this time of intense loss.
