Our hearts are heavy with the very sad news that our friend and SHARE Union Representative Bob Doiron passed away. He died after a long hard struggle with COVID-19. Such an incredibly cruel disease.

Bob cared deeply about the work of Marlborough Hospital and especially about the staff. He believed that Marlborough Hospital needed a union, even though he didn’t see himself as pro-union in general.

Bob played a key role in building the SHARE union at Marlborough Hospital, beginning by showing at the very first meeting of people who were interested. During the organizing campaign, Bob talked tirelessly with his co-workers about the union, always listening, always treating co-workers’ views with respect. Bob was solid and reliable — if he said he’d be there at a union breakfast to talk with other 3rd shift workers, he’d be there. And he’d bring his coworkers along.

Bob also helped us get our first contract -- he participated in so many meaningful ways, from attending every event, to talking with coworkers, to having conversations with legislators. Bob's dedication to the union didn't end there -- he decided to become a union rep for his department so he could continue to be involved.

Bob was kind, funny, a good friend, and a good talker. We will miss him dearly. Our hearts go out to his family in this time of intense loss.

Many SHARE members are adding these two ideas:
-->I work in healthcare, and here’s why Congress should fund hazard pay for front-line workers...
-->Safety net hospitals in COVID-19 hotspot areas like ours need funding support.

Send a letter to Congress to demand that they . Public service workers are putting their lives on the line. Unless Congress passes state and local aid, they could be thanked with a pink slip.

Shout-out to Vanessa Cadime (CNA + SHARE Representatives) for sharing her experience with Covid-19!

"...we were so used to seeing visitors coming to visit their loved ones, bringing them meals or dropping off extra clothes. Now those patients who have sadly contracted the virus have to rely on FaceTime to see and hear from their family members. Oftentimes, it’s not the best circumstances, especially if they experiencing more severe symptoms, as nobody can really predict outcomes. We have been doing our best to console and comfort both patients and families during these unprecedented times. "

"We were built for this. Victory is around the corner. The whole world is in chaos and panic, but someone has to encourage people. Faith over fear. This is just another obstacle. We’re moving forward and I’ll be able to testify someday."
