Looking to get outside after a rather cold and soggy day today? Join us for our trip tomorrow at DCR Kristoff Farm, Sterling. This place is a productive area for birding. All details are on our website - https://forbushbird.org - under coming events.

We’ll walk at least 2 miles on the old farm roads looking for birds of the fields and woodlands. Blue-winged Warbler and Indigo Bunting are common here. Meet at the end of Merrill Road, off Route 140, in Sterling (¼ mile north of the Route 190 intersection). Please pre register.

THIS TRIP HAS BEEN RESCHEDULED!! Due to rain and wind forecasted through much of Saturday, this has been moved to Wednesday, June 3rd, 2026. All other details remain the same.

We are approaching the end to our spring walks. It's been a great season so far. We hope to see you out at one of our walks this weekend!

On Saturday we'll be at Barre Falls Dam/Ware River Watershed IBA from 7:30am-12:00pm starting at the parking area to Route 62. We'll hike Brigham Road over the Ware River West Branch crossing, and return along the river via Tracy Lane to the parking area (about a 2.5-mile loop).

Meet us at the parking lot above the Dam, 1/2 mile south of Route 62 in Hubbardston. Restrooms are available at Barre Falls Picnic Area on Coldbrook Road across the dam. Please visit our website and register under the Coming Events menu.

As we continue with spring migration, it's exciting to welcome back some of our favorite birds. The Baltimore Oriole is here and making a lot of noise throughout the Northeast this month. There are a lot of opportunities to this this beautifully colored bird on any of our guided walks, as they are often at woodland edges and open riparian woods, but also urban parks and suburban landscapes.

Have you seen a Baltimore Oriole yet this spring? Feel free to share any pictures you've captured. We'd love to see them!

Eleven Forbush Club members and others attended the annual Woodcock Walk at the Wayne MacCallum Wildlife Management Area on an overcast warm and windy Spring evening listening for the American Woodcock’s “peent ” call and watching for its notorious sky dance. Lucky for us, they cooperated. A quick recap of the outing with an ebird list is at the link below!
