Our History:
Originally established by L'Union Saint-Jean-Baptiste d'Amerique, a fraternal benefit society established in 1900 for persons of French descent, the Foundation provides college scholarships to members and seminarians. In 1991, L'Union-Saint-Jean-Baptiste d'Amerique, whose name was changed to Union Saint-Jean-Baptiste in 1968, merged with Catholic Family Life Insurance, based in Shore
wood, Wisconsin. Presently the Foundation continues its mission under the umbrella of Catholic Financial Life, a not-for-profit financial services organization for Catholics and their families, based in Milwaukee. Tracing its founding to 1868, Catholic Financial Life is the oldest Catholic organization of its kind in the nation, and the second largest among all fraternal benefit societies.
