Ascentria Care Alliance

Ascentria Care Alliance Improving the wellbeing of individuals, families and communities facing systemic barriers. What does “Ascentria” mean?

Lutheran Social Services of New England became Ascentria Care Alliance on September 1, 2014. Our new name represents the beginning of a new era for our organization! We define it as “rising together.” In honor of our Christian heritage, it is a blend of “ascension” and “trinity.” Our faith-based legacy remains the heart and soul of our mission, vision and values. With our new name and client-cente

red strategy, we are opening doors to new partnerships that will help us have a greater impact on the lives of our clients and the communities we serve. We’re engaging with the entire faith community, with businesses and nonprofits, to achieve in collaboration much more than we could achieve alone. We are taking a more holistic, comprehensive approach to helping and empowering those we serve. Our new client center on Shattuck Street in Worcester houses many of our programs at one convenient location, so we can better coordinate vital services for our clients. Additional client centers are planned for gateway cities throughout New England.

A day dozens of young people will never forget!

As we speak, immigrant and refugee youth from Ascentria are experiencing the FIFA World Cup firsthand as they watch the Iraq vs. Norway match.

For many of these young people, soccer is more than a game. It's a connection to home, a bridge between cultures, and a language that brings people together no matter where they're from. Seeing their excitement as they join thousands of fans from around the world is truly unforgettable.

A heartfelt thank you to the partners who helped make this experience possible. The smiles, cheers, and pure joy we're witnessing today say it all.

🌎⚽ Here's to dreams realized, new memories made, and the incredible young people who inspire us every day.

🚨 Advocacy Alert 🚨

The Massachusetts FY 2027 state budget is entering its final stage, and we need your voice now.

Please take 30 seconds to email your State Representative and State Senator and ask them to support an $82 million investment in quality nursing facility funding.

This critical funding would help:
• Increase wages for dedicated nursing facility staff
• Hire additional direct care workers to address staffing shortages
• Support care for residents with increasingly complex medical needs

More than 350 emails have already been sent, but our goal is 5,000. Every message makes a difference.

Please take action today and encourage your colleagues, family members, residents, and community supporters to do the same.

Together, we can help ensure nursing facilities have the resources needed to provide high-quality care for those who depend on them.

Send your email now: https://maseniorcare.quorum.us/campaign/163910/

Thank you for your advocacy and support.

ICYMI: Ascentria President and CEO Angela Bovill recently joined leaders from across Massachusetts at the 2026 LeadingAge Massachusetts Annual Conference to discuss the future of senior care and living; her vision is rooted in the belief that older adults deserve more than routine care. They deserve connection, purpose, and opportunities to remain active participants in their communities.

As our population ages, the challenges facing older adults are becoming increasingly complex. Rising costs, changing family dynamics, workforce shortages, and growing isolation all require us to think differently about how we support people as they age. The solutions of the future won't be found in doing more of the same. They'll require reimagining housing, caregiving, and community itself.

At Ascentria, we're working toward a future built around intentional communities, places designed not just to provide services, but to create space for people to know one another, support one another, and share their lives together. We believe older adults should have opportunities to continue contributing their talents, sharing their wisdom, and finding purpose, while also benefiting from the care and connection of those around them. When people are connected, everyone is stronger.

Building that future will take bold thinking and dedicated leadership. If this vision resonates with you, we're currently seeking a Chief of Senior Services Operations for our Senior Care and Living division to help turn these ideas into reality and shape the next generation of aging services.

Just a few hours left before NH Gives ends!
For the next four hours, you can help New Hampshire neighbors remain safe, independent, and supported in their own homes.

For nearly 20 years, Ascentria's In-Home Care program has helped older adults, individuals with disabilities, and low-income residents maintain their dignity and quality of life. As food costs and everyday expenses continue to rise, many of the people we serve are struggling to make ends meet.

This NH Gives, your gift can help provide immediate support to clients facing food insecurity and other essential needs and thanks to our matching sponsor, Merrimack Savings Bank, your impact can go even further.

What does affordability really mean for older adults today?

We're proud to share that Ascentria Care Alliance CEO Angela Bovill will be joining a panel at today's LeadingAge Massachusetts Annual Conference to discuss Affordability Beyond Affordable Housing.

As the cost of living continues to rise, affordability for older adults extends far beyond rent. From food and utilities to supportive services and long-term housing stability, today's older adults face growing challenges that can impact their quality of life and independence.

Angela and fellow panelists, Philippe Saad Principal, DiMella Shaffer, Gretchen Van Ness Executive Director, LGBTQ Senior Housing, and Erika Kuester Chief Executive Officer, Treehouse Foundation, will explore innovative approaches to affordable housing and the partnerships and services that help older adults move into the next phase of their lives with dignity, confidence, and the support they deserve.

We're proud to share that Ascentria Care Alliance CEO Angela Bovill has been named to the Worcester Business Journal's Power 100.

According to WBJ, the Power 100 recognizes the leaders who most effectively use their influence to create an outsized impact on Central Massachusetts. This year's honorees represent individuals who are shaping the region's future through innovation, collaboration, and community leadership.

Angela's recognition reflects a year of transformational work at Ascentria, including the opening of The Lighthouse at Ascentria, the preservation of affordable senior housing through the Goddard Homestead Hall affiliation, and the continued expansion of programs that strengthen communities across the region.

"Power is a privilege granted to you by others, rooted in trust, respect, and genuine care," Angela shared with WBJ. "True leadership comes from serving people well."

Please join us in congratulating Angela on this well-deserved recognition and thanking her for her commitment to building stronger, more connected communities throughout Central Massachusetts and beyond.

A heartfelt thank you to Governor Maura Healey, Lt. Governor Kim Driscoll, and Airbnb for making it possible for 40 young people in Ascentria's programs to attend the FIFA World Cup 2026 match between Norway and Iraq.

Many of these young people come from immigrant backgrounds and have deep connections to countries and cultures represented on the world stage. The chance to attend a World Cup match in person is something they never imagined they would experience.

Thank you for creating an opportunity that will spark joy and remind these young people that they are part of something bigger. We are so excited for them, and we know this will be a day they will never forget!

Ascentria Immigrant Legal Assistance Program is deeply grateful to the Greater Worcester Community Foundation for its generous $150,000 grant as part of the Foundation's 50th anniversary investment in Worcester County.

This support will help us retain dedicated staff who assist individuals and families with critical immigration documentation and legal services, while also helping cover filing fees that can otherwise be significant barriers to stability and opportunity.

At a time when demand for immigration legal services remains high, this investment strengthens our ability to serve our community with compassion and expertise. Thank you to Greater Worcester Community Foundation and its donors for their commitment to creating equitable opportunities for all who call Worcester County home.
