Pernet Family Health Service

Pernet Family Health Service Pernet Family Health Service is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit, DPH-certified home-health agency

Since 1955, when the Little Sisters of the Assumption started Pernet Family Health Service in Worcester, our organization has strengthened vulnerable, low income families with emergency assistance, maternal and child home health care, and family support. Our roots date back to 1865 and the wake of the Industrial Revolution, when Father Etienne Pernet, for whom we are named, and Sister Antoinette F

age, founded the Little Sisters of the Assumption to provide home-based nursing, child care, and homemaker help to overburdened factory workers in Paris, France. Their care lifted struggling families both physically and spiritually, laying the foundation for what is now a thriving global network of health and social service agencies. Today, Pernet Family Health Service in Worcester, Massachusetts is a Department of Public Health-certified home health agency, providing hands-on, in-home care for the most complex of maternal and child cases in the Worcester area, and early intervention services for children with, or at-risk for, developmental delays. We also collaborate with many governmental, nonprofit, and spiritual organizations to improve the physical, social, emotional, and spiritual health of 11,500 impoverished people a year, many of them infants and children. Every day our nurses, social workers, volunteers, staff and leadership team work to renew the whole person - physically, socially, and spiritually - in communities that lift each other up. Our mission, which supports the physical, social, psychological, and spiritual development of men, women, children, and families, resonates with that of the United Nations Universal Declaration on Human Rights. Here at Pernet, where we view society as one large family, we work to promote social justice and human rights for all people, gradually improving society - one person, one family, one community at a time.

Every Monday, volunteers Dan and Brent help with our Worcester County Food Bank pick up. They help to ensure careful, efficient handling of food that ends up in the homes of the families we serve. Special thanks to volunteers and all the helping hands that make our services strong.

WOW What a day!

Earlier this Spring, Working For Worcester - SHCAB finished building our raised garden beds and in partnership with The Regional Environmental Council (REC), seedlings went in the ground.

All summer, our youth have been watering and caring for these plants.

Today was our first harvest!

Seventeen thousand servings of life!

Pernet is honored to be the recipient of 420 cans of baby formula courtesy of Ocean State Job Lot and the Worcester County Reserve Sheriff's Office.

Almost 10,000 cans of formula were distributed to local nonprofit partners and care organizations like Pernet by Sheriff Lew Evangelidis. Creating a network of support is no small feat; during the event, speakers recounted formula shortages from years ago, emphasizing the landmark abundance of resources as life-saving.

The remarkable donation will be distributed by our Emergency Assistance Food Pantry, Maternal Child Nursing Program, and through parent aides part of our Family Support Services. 11,760 ounces of formula will reach parents and infants in need.

It was lovely to see our friends from partner organizations. And a special thank you to Ocean State Job Lot and Worcester County Sheriff's Office for your partnership with Pernet, your generosity is essential to our mission!
