Urban Missionaries of Our Lady of Hope Urban Missionaries of Our Lady of Hope, formerly Refugee Apostolate serves the inner-city community of Worcester, MA. Classes and other services are available.

Urban Missionaries of Our Lady of Hope services include: used clothing, furniture, and home decor for minor donations. A large Christmas Giving Tree Program provides gifts to 1400 families.

We want to give a huge thank you to all of the Volunteers from Saint Rose for helping us build our new hydroponics Garden of Hope! Maureen, Christopher, Andy, John, Patricia, Julie, Leigh, Abram, Laura, Elena, James, and Peter worked incredibly hard on Saturday to put together these gardens. Their display of teamwork, dedication, and their cheerful demeanor made for a great day of working towards a good cause. We cannot thank them enough for all of their help and support!

Congratulations to Professor David Crowley for earning the prestigious Honorary Alumnus Award from Assumption University which recognizes his unwavering commitment to the University’s mission and community! Dr. David Crowley is a biology professor at Assumption, and a member of the Urban Missionaries Board of Directors. He contributes greatly to our mission of helping the least, the last, and the left out. Every Friday before work, Professor Crowley takes the time to deliver food to The Little Store without fail. Additionally, Professor Crowley has been awarded the 2025 Thomas M. Landy Award in honor of his service to Collegium. This honor joins his previous achievement of receiving Assumption University’s Presidential Award which honors his leadership, service, and scholarship within the Assumption Community. Dr. Crowley’s dedication to our cause has left a lasting impact on our community, and his kindness and leadership are vital aspects of the success of our mission.

He and his wife Kathy have shown an unwavering dedication to supporting those in need, and for 47 years the pair have built Urban Missionaries from the ground up, offering services and support for the community. Walter and Kathy have quietly built a profound legacy of compassion, service, and generosity all without asking for any praise or recognition. Their mission has always been about those in need, not awards or accolades. We would like to take the time on this special anniversary to recognize Walter and Kathy’s abiding commitment to helping their community, and we thank them for all that they have done these past 45 years.
