United Africans for Women & Children Rights

United Africans for Women & Children Rights We vigorously promote democratic non-violent principles, gender equity and child protection in Africa through education, grassroots advocacy and research.

Our advocacy work and leadership initiatives include:

*Advocating for ending the prosecution of child-soldiers and promoting access to education for former child soldiers, ensuring that former child soldiers have access to justice, trauma counseling and education, especially female child-soldiers and female victims of war who are the most marginalized population.

*Encouraging and training women

and girls to vie for highly recognized and influential public and political positions, educating them on basic rights and human rights issues.

*Strengthening linkages between sexual and reproductive health, HIV prevention, care and access to treatment at no or at affordable costs. UAWCR promotes safe motherhood, pre and post natal services, Family Planning, STD screening and treatment and safe legal terminations of pregnancy for abused women and girls.

*Conduct girls' leadership workshops cultivating communication skills, relationship building, critical thinking, and introducing them to college and career opportunities.

*Proposing the establishment of an education scholarship for young women and girls who have been affected by conflict.

*Building a peaceful and healthy society through promoting the use of non-violent conflict management initiatives, using diplomatic missions and credible international third parties in negotiating and resolving conflicts; promoting national unity and reconciliation through campaigns and community education at all levels.

*Establishing an arts academy for girls using Oprah Winfrey’s Girls Leadership Academy in South Africa as our model for excellence.

*Encouraging women and girls to plant tree a tree a day in their communities, thus claiming back the thousands of trees that have been cut. In addition to planting trees, UAWCR advocates for the strong government preservation policies of the environment to protect our rivers and lakes in Africa for the future.

*The People Care Center (PCC) uses a combined approach to serve women, children and vulnerable families in Africa (Uganda pilot program) with medical care, legal services, and social services including food, clothing and counseling in an atmosphere of dignity and respect.

It has been 16 years since the Aboke girls were taken, 16 year of my friend suffuring. It has been 26 since the LRA started its brutality against innocent people, from Uganda, Southern Sudan, Eastern Congo and Central Repblic of Africa. The world now has seen and knows the suffering that this man has caused. But what exactly is the world doing? what justice has been done. Where is the accountability. Ugandan Government needs to be hold accountable at all levels.
