A Reserve Deputy is a person of good moral character, without necessarily having a law enforcement background. A Reserve Deputy is eligible to be appointed as a member of the Worcester County Reserve Deputy Sheriff's Association due to:

* Their position in the community
* Their willingness to perform community service
* Their ability to be an asset to the Worcester County Sheriff's Department

Only when called upon by the High Sheriff or Special Sheriff does a Reserve Deputy have the powers, duties, authority, responsibility and honors of a Deputy Sheriff, as provided for by the Massachusetts General Laws, Chapter 37, Section 13 and Chapter 269, Section 1. All Reserve Deputies serve at the will and pleasure of the Sheriff and agree to obey the lawful commands of the Sheriff, his designees and follow the rules and regulations of the association and the department.

Last night, Sheriff Lew Evangelidis, the Worcester County Sheriff's Office, and the Worcester County Reserve Deputy Sheriff's Association kicked off their annual Winter Coat Drive at Pepe’s Italian Restaurant. 🧥❄️

Thanks to the generous support of local businesses, organizations, sponsors, and community members, coats will be distributed to more than 20 nonprofits and community centers throughout Worcester County during the final weeks of October.

These coats will provide warmth and comfort while reflecting the care and support of our community. Thank you to everyone who continues to make this annual effort possible!
