Every statistic tells the story of people coming together to strengthen our community.

Thanks to the dedication of our volunteers, the generosity of our food donors, the commitment of our partner agencies, and the support of our community, Rachel's Table continued to make a meaningful impact throughout 2025.

This year, together, we:
🍎 Rescued more than 500,000 pounds of food
🍎 Reached a lifetime milestone of 15 million pounds rescued
🍎 Worked alongside 81+ dedicated volunteers
🍎 Supported 39+ partner agencies
🍎 Served communities across 25+ ZIP codes
🍎 Directed 92¢ of every dollar toward rescuing and delivering food, while the remaining 8¢ went to overhead and operations

These numbers are more than milestones—they represent meals shared, food kept out of landfills, and neighbors helping neighbors.
Which of these accomplishments are you most proud to see? Leave a comment below—we'd love to hear from you! 🩷

Last week, our Marketing & Community Engagement Intern joined Rachel's Table volunteers for a morning of food rescue to see firsthand how surplus food makes its way from local retailers to our community partners.
Many people are surprised to learn that the food rescued by Rachel's Table is still perfectly safe to eat. Grocery stores and retailers often have fresh, nutritious food they can no longer sell because it's nearing its sell-by date, was overstocked, or no longer meets retail standards. Rather than letting that food go to waste, our volunteers rescue it and deliver it to local shelters, pantries, and nonprofits serving individuals and families across Worcester County.
Every pickup is powered by volunteers who generously give their time to make these deliveries possible. Their dedication helps reduce food waste while ensuring fresh, healthy food reaches the people who need it most.
It's a simple mission with a lasting impact: rescue good food, fight hunger, and strengthen our community—one delivery at a time.

A heartfelt thank you to the Middlesex Savings Charitable Foundation for their generous $12,000 grant in support of Rachel's Table's Children's Milk Fund.

This gift will provide 4,000 half gallons of milk through our network of 19 community partners, ensuring 750–800 children receive fresh, nutritious milk every week!

Partnerships like this make a lasting impact. They help provide children with consistent access to nutritious food while giving families one less thing to worry about.

We are grateful to Middlesex Savings Charitable Foundation for helping us nourish children and strengthen our community.

It only takes a few people to make a big difference. 💚

On Sunday, Director Schimmel joined two incredible volunteers, Chris and Paul, for a food rescue at Whole Foods. Together, they collected surplus packaged foods and delivered them to Jeremiah's Inn, helping ensure good food reaches people instead of landfills.

Every rescue is made possible through the generosity of our food donors, the dedication of our volunteers, and the partnerships that connect food with our community.

Thank you to Whole Foods, Jeremiah's Inn, and our volunteers for being part of this mission. Together, we're fighting hunger, reducing food waste, and building a stronger community.

You may or may not have seen the “That’s My Why” trend making its way around social media. Well we wanted to put our own Rachel’s Table spin on it. 💙

At Rachel’s Table, we rescue surplus food from local restaurants, grocery stores, and other food donors, then deliver it to shelters, food pantries, and community organizations across Worcester County—turning food that would have gone to waste into meals for our neighbors who need them most.

This is our why. Every rescue, every delivery, and every volunteer helps make it possible. 🍎

Every child deserves the chance to grow up without worrying about their next meal. 💙

At Florence House, young mothers are building brighter futures for themselves and their children. Through Ascentria Care Alliance’s Young Parent Living Program, mothers receive the support they need to complete their education while raising healthy, thriving families.

Nutritious food plays an important role in that journey.

As Amaireny Jose from Florence House shared: “The food that Rachel’s Table provides is critical to our young mothers to help them support their children and to focus on improving their future.”

Rachel’s Table is proud to provide 95% of Florence House’s donated food and 100% of its milk, helping ensure the ten families who call Florence House home have reliable access to healthy meals.

Every rescued donation from a local restaurant, retailer, or food donor becomes more than food—it becomes one less worry for a young parent, one more meal for a growing child, and one more reminder that our community cares.

Thank you to everyone who makes food rescue possible. Together, we’re helping build stronger families and brighter futures, one delivery at a time.

Who is Rachel’s Table? 💙

Since 1989, Rachel’s Table has been rescuing surplus food and redistributing it to people experiencing food insecurity throughout Greater Worcester.

Every day, we collect fresh, nutritious food that would otherwise go to waste from restaurants, grocery stores, bakeries, senior centers, and private donors. Instead of ending up in a landfill, that food is delivered to more than 30 local shelters, soup kitchens, and neighborhood pantries, where it becomes meals for our neighbors.

This work is only possible because of our incredible volunteers. More than 70 dedicated drivers use their own vehicles and their own time to ensure good food reaches the people who need it most.

Together, we're reducing food waste, fighting hunger, and strengthening our community—one delivery at a time.

Whether you're interested in volunteering, becoming a food donor, supporting our mission, or simply sharing our story, there's a place for you in Rachel's Table.

Rachel’s Table is driven by our wonderful volunteers, and every volunteer brings something different to the table. 💙

Some spend their mornings delivering rescued food. Others coordinate pickups behind the scenes, lend a hand at community events, or help care for community gardens. No matter the role, every volunteer is helping make sure good food reaches neighbors who need it instead of going to waste.

It takes people with different skills, schedules, and passions to make food rescue possible. 🤝Together, those small acts of service add up to thousands of meals shared across Worcester County. 🍴

There isn't one way to make an impact. There's a place for everyone at Rachel's Table. 💙

There is excess food, and there are people in need. Rachel’s Table helps bring the two together. 💙

Meet the team at Friendly House, where food, shelter, and support have strengthened the Worcester community for more than 100 years. Each week, Rachel's Table helps stock their pantries with food and milk so parents can spend less time worrying about how they'll feed their families, and children can spend more time focused on learning, growing, and simply being kids.

Josefina Velez states that her favorite quote that reflects her experience as Director of Friendly House’s Social Service Department and Food Pantry is:

“It’s not how much we give, but how much love you put into giving” ~ Mother Teresa

This is what community looks like. 💙

Two new faces at Rachel’s Table this summer, and we’re glad they’re here.

Nicole Weise joins us as our Marketing & Community Engagement intern. She’s completing her MS in Marketing Analytics at Clark University and bringing real nonprofit experience with her. This summer she’s building out our social content, running platform analytics, and leading partner outreach for some big campaigns we have coming up. She put it simply: nonprofit work just feels different. Putting marketing toward something that’s actually trying to make a difference — that’s what drew her here.

Autumn Allard is our Operations & Impact intern, working toward her MBA at Clark. She’s spending the summer looking at how we manage volunteers: what’s working, where the gaps are, and how to make the whole system run better long-term. Outside of RT, she just adopted a kitten!

Welcome, Nicole and Autumn.
