Dee-1 was our host for the INSPIRE Massachusetts Youth Leadership Institute 🎤

From the moment he stepped on stage, Dee-1 brought energy, authenticity, and a message that truly resonated with every student in the room. His call to be real, be righteous, be relevant set the tone for an unforgettable day and challenged our 130+ young leaders to lead with purpose and integrity.

Thank you, Dee-1, for leading with heart, inspiring the next generation, and reminding us all of the power of using our voices for good.

Real change happens when young people connect with real opportunities!

Thank you to the incredible organizations who showed up for our Action Fair and helped students see what’s possible when they take action in their communities:

ACLU Massachusetts
Cultural Survival
Department of Mental Health (Worcester)
Empower Peace’s My America
Healthy Youth Coalition
Massachusetts School Counselors Association (MASCA)
Massachusetts Education Justice Alliance
Massachusetts Coalition to Prevent Gun Violence
Neighbor to Neighbor
OUT MetroWest
Peace Islands Institute Boston
Planned Parenthood League of MA
Progressive Massachusetts
Sierra Club Massachusetts
UMass Amherst Labor Center

Because of you, students didn’t just learn — they connected, got inspired, and found real pathways to turn their ideas into impact.

This is how movements grow 🌱

We were honored to welcome Chrissy Lynch, President of the Massachusetts AFL-CIO, as our keynote speaker at the INSPIRE Massachusetts Youth Leadership Institute 💫

Chrissy’s powerful words, leadership, and commitment to advocating for workers and communities across Massachusetts left a lasting impact on all of us — especially the 130+ young leaders in the room who are stepping into their own voices and creating change.

Thank you, Chrissy, for taking the time to join us, share your story, and inspire the next generation of changemakers. Your message truly resonated and will carry forward in the action these students take in their own communities.

From all of us at Empower Peace, we wish you a blessed day filled with gratitude, love, and forgiveness.

Yesterday was nothing short of inspiring 💪

Over 130 students from across Massachusetts came together in Worcester for the second annual INSPIRE Massachusetts Youth Leadership Institute — and the energy, passion, and commitment to change was incredible.

Throughout the day, students participated in dynamic workshops, connected with local coalition leaders at the Action Fair, and took part in hands-on leadership training designed to empower them as changemakers in their own communities.

Each student left not just inspired — but equipped with a personalized action plan to address a real issue in their hometown and create meaningful impact where it matters most.

This is what youth leadership looks like. This is how change begins. 💫

February is Black History Month!

Celebrated every February, Black History Month honors the achievements, resilience, and lasting impact of Black Americans throughout history.

In 1915, historian Carter G. Woodson co-founded the Association for the Study of Negro Life and History to ensure Black stories were studied and recognized. In 1926, he launched Negro History Week, choosing February to honor the birthdays of Abraham Lincoln and Frederick Douglass. By 1976, during the Civil Rights Movement era, it expanded into Black History Month and was officially recognized by President Gerald Ford, who encouraged Americans to honor the overlooked contributions of Black Americans.

Black history lives beyond February. Today—and every day—we celebrate Black culture, innovation, leadership, and continue pushing for equity and justice.
