Background and legal status checks, eliminating presumptive eligibility and transfer requirements if sheltered 20mi away from preferred areas, and requiring documentation of Massachusetts residency (past or planned) are on the menu of proposals. Conservatives say this should've been done years ago. Critics of the changes think we should look into the details for improvements rather than a conservative-like hammer-dropping on the system, which will add to the number of families already on the street in the state.

Gov. Healey wants anyone seeking shelter in Massachusetts to prove they are in the country legally.

PLACES TO EAT ON THANKGIVING!

The Boulevard Diner on Shrewsbury Street serves a free turkey dinner from noon to 3 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day. The Boulevard invites anyone who may be alone, doesn’t feel like cooking, or needs a place to gather to join them.

Now located at 289 Harding St., Cafe Neo hosts an open house from noon to 4 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day. Chef and owner Panagiotis "Peter" Tsigas dishes out a mix of classic holiday staples such as turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes and cranberry sauce, alongside Greek specialties for which the restaurant is known.

Lunch Lady activities have been temporarily suspended due to low funds, the time crunch of starting a new job, and car troubles that will take a few weeks before I can get it fixed. I really enjoy seeing my regulars and helping new people, I hope everyone is doing ok with all this weird weather happening, and I can't wait to get back to my 'rounds' on a regular basis again!

Lacking an address to call one's own affects your ability to get a job and a replacement ID if lost or stolen, which affects your ability to get support from programs and to rent a hotel room to clean up, which affects your ability to get and keep a job, never mind trying to eat and live cheaply to save for first/last/deposit for an apartment that many times costs more a month than many people get from SSDI if they qualify... It's more than where someone is sleeping at night. It's a downward cycle of everything stacking up against them to even try to enter 'society' again. Affordable housing is the best preventative.

This is "Just Knate". He uses the money he makes from his videos to help people in need, from food to new shoes to putting them up in a hotel while they start a new job to get off the streets. He is always caring, respectful, and does not judge anyone. I hope to be able to help people this generously someday.
