Sanborn County 4-H The goal of 4-H is to develop citizenship, leadership, responsibility and life skills of youth through experiential learning programs.

4-H is a positive youth development organization that empowers young people to reach their full potential. A vast community of more than 6 million youth and adults working together for positive change, 4-H enables America’s youth to emerge as leaders through hands-on learning, research-based 4-H youth programs and adult mentorship, in order to give back to their local communities.

The 2026 South Dakota 4-H State Horse Show will be held July 13–15 in Huron, SD.

The Horse Show registration, Contestant Packet and Show Guide are now available! Be sure to check them out for important details and deadlines. The 4-H State Horse Show registration no exceptions deadline is July 1 at 11:59 PM CT in FairEntry.

May 27th we held our annual Fun Horse Show over in Forestburg. It was definitely a hot day, but we all had a great time! Here is the first set of pictures showing off our youth in the Showmanship and English Equitation events.

Reminder... the Optional Small Animal Weigh In is on Tuesday, May 26th at 4:00 PM.

You are also invited to attend and complete your Youth Livestock Literacy (YLL). This will be the final in person option offered. Please try to attend so that we can mark this complete. All YLL Certification needs to be done by July 1!

If you are unable to attend the YLL on Tuesday, you will need to do the YQCA online. Go to yqcaprogram.org to complete your training. The cost is $12. After you complete the survey, they will send you a link to your certificate. You will need to send a screenshot of the certificate to the office so we can mark you as completed for the year. (You will also find the link to YQCA in the weekly smore.)

I strongly encourage you to begin the process of registering your animals into https://v2.4honline.com/ #/user/sign-in . There is a firm deadline of June 1st for this. Please aim to have all your animals entered by Friday, May 29th so that we can look for errors/corrections on Monday, June 1st.
