Healing Flames Forge Inc. We hope to be operational and start serving our target audience by the fall of 2021. When fully operational, we will instruct participants in blacksmithing, farrier work, metalworking, and related skills with the goal of providing a sense of accomplishment, mental and physical wellbein

g, preservation of an ancient art, and teaching skills that could be used to start one’s own business.***
Our target audience includes veterans, active-duty service members, first responders & frontline workers, wounded warriors, their family members and battle buddies, and others, especially those experiencing emotional strain from on-the-job experiences and life stressors. Healing Flames Forge Inc. is a blacksmith shop housed in a 900-square-foot pole barn on private property in Woodlawn, Tennessee. The company incorporated in December 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic. Based on local restrictions at the time of incorporation, shop size, program intent, and agreement with the Montgomery County Zoning Commission Board, HFF is limited to eight participants and two instructors per session (one instructor to four student smiths). We will continue to serve as long as participants enroll in the program. Two mentors (Rob Duane + one guest) mentor up to eight participants in 3- or 7-hour sessions in the shop on Saturday and Sunday. For those who wish to continue developing skills, the 4-hour afternoon session builds on instruction from the 3-hour morning session. After attending a full 7-hour session, student smiths may come back during "open forge" sessions to work on advancing their skills. A calendar will be populated on our website to show available periods for open forge sessions. Visit healingflamesforge.org (just like the smithy, our website is also "under construction". Please bear with us as we get this field of dreams built.
***There is NO COST to participants. All material, protective equipment, tools, and project stock will be provided by Healing Flames Forge.

We are resuming forge sessions on 7 March 2026, and boy, are we going to be busy over the next three months! We'll be hosting troops from the 96th ASB for several sessions in March and April, we'll be setting up our mobile kit at the Military Expo in Union City, TN, 17-18 April, and again for the Vintage Fair on Saturday, 2 May 2026, at Beachaven Winery, and we're hosting a group from the Nashville Chapter of the Wounded Warrior Project on 29 May. In between all of this, we continue to improve the smithy and make projects for each of the mobile kit events.

Hello Friends of the Forge! Here's a recovery update:
Rob is recovering well, but even "minimally invasive" brain surgery is still rough on a guy, and the human brain sure doesn't like foreign bodies being introduced into its tissue! The recovery period is 4-6 weeks. As such, there will be no forge sessions in February. After a follow-up MRI and doctor visit on 3 March, we expect to resume operations soon after that. We will see you all soon!

Forge Session Announcements:

First, due to single-digit lows and 20-degree highs, along with a major winter storm forecasted for this weekend, this weekend's forge sessions at Healing Flames Forge are CANCELLED.

Next, due to surgery recovery, availability for February sessions will be assessed weekly and announcements posted. Stay tuned.

And lastly, most weekend dates in March are tentatively booked for groups from Fort Campbell's 96th ASB. More to follow as we firm up dates.

Thank you for your patience and understanding, and your continued support.

Happy New Year everyone. Healing Flames Forge wishes you all an amazing 2026!

Five years ago today, I incorporated Healing Flames Forge. For the past three years I've done a fundraiser for my birthday. This year, the Facebook fundraiser, along with generous donations outside FB, put just over $5,000 in the HFF account. We can't thank all of you enough for your generosity. Anyone who wants to know where your donations go can go to the website (healingflamesforge.org) and click on "Click Here to Donate" (don't worry, it's not a trap to get more out of you 🤪). Clicking that link will pop up a list that shows our operating expenses. We are also seeking suggestions this year from our board members and 'reheats' for ways we can use funds to improve the overall experience at Healing Flames. Expenditures must of course support the HFF mission: Enrich the lives of others through hammer, anvil, and camaraderie."

Again, thank you all so much for your generosity! We can continue to do this only because of you.

Some great pictures from a couple recent forge sessions. On Sunday, 5 Oct 2025, we hosted a group from the Fort Campbell Better Opportunities for Single Soldiers (BOSS) program. What a great group of young Americans! --No embedded comments this time, the smiles and engagement says it all.

We love repurposing stuff here at Healing Flames Forge. It's fun to give something new life (see comments in pics).
