On Sunday, April 26, we had the pleasure of hosting Laura Liebman and her students from Princeton University. Ashford King (left) recently completed his PhD in Spanish, and undergraduate students Uriel Lin and Andrei Florian (right) are currently working on a research project comparing the cemeteries of the Baron de Hirsch colonies of New Jersey and the Baron de Hirsch colonies in Entre Ríos, Argentina. Their work explores the similarities and differences between these historic burial grounds, offering valuable insight into the cultural and historical connections between the colonies.

We look forward to seeing their completed project and learning from their findings.

Thank you for visiting!

On Sunday April 19, 2026, we had the pleasure of hosting a delegation from our “sister colony” in Brazil! Sergio Lerrer, a descendant of the Brazilian Baron de Hirsch colony, and his wife joined us along with Nilton Wainer for a meaningful visit.

Nilton Wainer serves as President of the Marc Chagall Jewish Cultural Institute in Brazil, which houses the history of the Brazilian Baron de Hirsch colony, offering invaluable insight into the experiences of Jewish agricultural settlers and their enduring impact on the region.

We had a wonderful time sharing the history of Woodbine and exploring the parallels between our communities. To commemorate the occasion, Sergio and Nilton left their mark on our memory wall—a lasting reminder of this special connection.

We are grateful for their visit and the opportunity to celebrate our shared heritage!
