REquipment provides free gently used durable medical equipment & assistive technology throughout MA.

REquipment gives gently used durable medical equipment a second life helping someone else in need. A “reuse” program, REquipment helps people obtain gently-used and refurbished durable medical equipment (DME) at no cost thanks to state and private funding. The project is funded by the Massachusetts Rehabilitation Commission with support from the Department of Developmental Services and the Pappas Rehabilitation Hospital for Children. You shouldn’t have to prove how much you earn or justify your disability before asking for equipment that could help you live with independence and confidence.

REquipment serves Massachusetts residents who need home medical equipment or assistive technology. There is no income threshold, and you do not need to provide proof of disability to request an available device.

We believe people know what they need. Our role is to make it easier to see what equipment is available and take the next step.

For someone spending their days in a rehab facility, a power wheelchair could mean the chance to get out of bed and move around.

One Massachusetts resident living with MS shared that a new wheelchair could take several months to arrive. With use of only one hand, they reached out to REquipment looking for a power wheelchair that might meet their needs.

Their request shows what can be at stake during a wait for equipment: the ability to move through a day on your own terms.

We are incredibly grateful for the generosity of our donors! Your continued support has brought in an overwhelming number of equipment donations, allowing us to help even more people across Massachusetts.

Due to the significant increase in donations, especially bulk donations, we are temporarily pausing the acceptance of most DME donations.

However, we will continue to accept the following equipment:
• Shower and bath equipment
• Manual wheelchairs
• Adapted strollers and pediatric equipment
• AT (Assistive Technology) equipment
• Rollators
• Power scooters

We’ll keep everyone updated on when we can resume accepting regular donations.

Independence looks different for everyone—and so does the equipment that supports it.

For one person, a rollator may make it easier to move around. For another, a shower stool may make a daily routine more manageable. Someone else may need a scooter, a communication device, or an adapted stroller.

Access to equipment is also about how people are treated when they ask for help.

One Massachusetts resident came to REquipment for a complex power wheelchair after finding that other programs were too complicated or would take too long. In their feedback, they thanked the team for paying attention to people with disabilities and helping them stay “comfortable and independent.”

That care matters. People seeking equipment deserve to be heard and supported as they find what works for them.
