The men and women who served this country made a promise.....to protect, to sacrifice, and to stand in the face of uncertainty for something greater than themselves. In return, they were promised support, respect, and care when they came home. Yet for far too many veterans, that promise remains unfulfilled.

No one who has worn the uniform should struggle to find a safe place to sleep. The reality that some veterans face homelessness is not just troubling......it’s unacceptable. A home is more than four walls; it’s stability, dignity, and the foundation for rebuilding a life after service. Without it, everything else becomes harder: finding work, maintaining health, and staying connected to a community.

Beyond housing, veterans deserve accessible, compassionate healthcare, both physical and mental. The invisible wounds of service, including trauma and stress, can last long after deployment ends. Proper care isn’t a luxury; it’s a responsibility owed to those who gave so much.

Supporting veterans isn’t just about policy, it’s about priorities. It’s about ensuring that when service ends, dignity doesn’t. When we invest in housing, healthcare, and meaningful support systems for veterans, we honor not only their service, but our shared values as a nation.

They stood for us. The least we can do is stand for them......by making sure they have a place to call home and the care they need to truly come home.

FSB Initiative is committed to making a real difference in the lives of homeless veterans by helping them move from hardship to hope. Founded on compassion, respect, and service, the organization works to provide veterans with the support, resources, and encouragement they need to rebuild their lives and regain independence.

FSB Initiative, we believe no veteran should be left without shelter, stability, or a sense of purpose after serving their country. Through community outreach, advocacy, and hands-on assistance, we strive to help veterans get off the streets and back on their feet — restoring dignity, confidence, and opportunity one life at a time.

This past weekend, Saturday, April 18, 2026, members of the FSB Ohio Team traveled to Erie, PA for an outreach effort. During their time there, they connected with five veterans. Three of them will be meeting with the Erie VSO soon, while the other two already had processes underway but were given our contact information should they need any additional support. All of them were given a veteran go bag with essentials. 1 was dressed out with full outfit, socks, and jacket.

The team also assisted several civilians by providing snacks and civilian go-bags. In return, these individuals shared valuable information about areas where members of the homeless community may be located, helping guide future outreach efforts.

Following the outreach, a few team members visited AVVC to check in on veterans we had previously referred. It was incredibly encouraging to see that all of them are doing well. Many have formed their own support network after realizing they were all assisted by both the FSB NEPA and Ohio Teams. Seeing them transition off the streets, regain stability, and begin thriving was truly rewarding.

Additionally, we assisted a Marine veteran who reached out through social media. He was successfully housed within 24 hours and is doing well, having already been taken under the wing of another veteran we had previously helped place.

We are currently working with another veteran who also reached out via social media and are actively assisting them.
