The Williamsport Lions Club was honored to have Mark Vanmeter of the Salvation Army as our guest speaker tonight. He shared news of the good work the organization is doing to help people in our community.

We also celebrated the induction of four new members into our club tonight! Welcome to our new Lions Club members! We are so happy to have each of you join the pack!

Last night the Williamsport Lions Club was honored to host the District 22W Regional Leader Dog Banquet, welcoming fellow Lions from clubs in our neighboring communities.

Guest speaker, Walker Jones, member of the Augusta Lions Club in Georgia, accompanied by Leader Dog Loki, gave a moving account of his journey living with Usher Syndrome, and how the Leader Dog Program has helped him reclaim his purpose and make a difference to other people’s lives. Walker is a passionate advocate, public speaker, and content creator who is not just navigating life with blindness but helping others see in a whole new way. We extend our sincere gratitude, respect, and appreciation to Walker and Loki for visiting us and sharing their stories. Thank you for living boldly and making a difference!

The Leader Dogs for the Blind program, established by the Lions Club in 1939, provides guide dogs and training free of charge.

Our guest speaker tonight was from America’s Vet Dogs, a program to help pair veterans and first responders with highly- trained service dogs for support. Our speaker, brought with him: Atlas, a super-smart and adorable 10month old golden Labrador in training.

The Williamsport Lions Club hosted 15 guests at our Friendship Night dinner on Feb. 24. It was a great evening of fun and fellowship that resulted in several applications for membership.

The Williamsport Lions decorated a tree at the annual celebration of trees at the Springfield Barn. Our tree was dedicated to Lion Irene Clopper who passed away this year. We miss you, Irene.

A great time was had by all at the Williamsport Lions Club annual bingo fundraiser. Proceeds of over $8,000 will go right back to our community. Thanks to everyone who attended.
